Additional Information

The Humpback Whales and Orcas make their way to the northern regions of Norway, specifically the coast near Tromsø, to feast on Atlantic Herring, typically from the middle of October to the end of January.

Throughout this wintertime, we arrange Whale & Arctic Wildlife Safari embarking from Tromsø via boat. We set sail at 08:30 from Tromsø; our course is influenced by the weather conditions and the likelihood of spotting whales and wildlife. Sometimes we need to journey for up to three hours to get to the location where whales are predominantly sighted. The path is picturesque - we navigate between islands and across expansive fjords under the gaze of mountain ranges. Once the whales are in sight, we spend a minimum of one hour at the sighting location. We float in harmony with the whales during this duration, and we subtly trace their route, mindful of our intrusion into their natural-space. Our vessel provides an adequate space with a cozy, heated lounge equipped with panoramic windows, a compact kiosk, restrooms, and several external decks.

Please note: Pets are not permitted on the vessel

Well worth the trip. - This was a fantastic trip with very friendly hosts. Managed to see quite a few Sperm Whales and Orca Pods. Really knowledgeable hosts too, and a good, comfortable boat.

Incalculable experience, very grateful for what we have been able to witness. - 5 points for this company, and I fall short. We went with them on a tour to spot cetaceans and we are delighted. During both trips, round trip, the staff explained very interesting aspects about these wonderful animals, which made the excursion much more lively and interesting. Furthermore, upon reaching the warning point, we were lucky enough to observe orcas, fin whales, humpback whales and even sperm whales, something that apparently does not happen frequently. Hopefully this special natural environment can be properly preserved and these spectacular creatures can be enjoyed with respect for many more years.

Incredibly special to see Orcas and whales in real life. - After 3.5 hours of sailing we saw the Orcas and the whales spouting. We had plenty of time to see it and take pictures. Then back again. We were well informed by Daniel and Stan. They had a lot of knowledge intertwined with a sense of humor. There was also quiet background music. The boat looked clean and there was plenty in the kiosk to eat. In addition to the free tea and coffee. It was a day with a golden edge for us.

To do in good weather - Excursion to be preferred in good weather. We were there when it was very foggy and we couldn't see anything on the horizon. The organizer should cancel it in case of bad weather. As for the whales, the guide explained to us that at the end of January it is almost impossible to see them because they would have already left. So we paid for nothing...

No whales - Seats were nice boat was nice wasted a whole day trying to see whales it’s so hard to see them people lie about seeing them in reviews so I’m telling u nobody I know saw them all week unless u took a 4k$ tour to see them privately u won’t see them almost a guarantee a total rip off! The boat was nice than the other ones tho but it goes way too fast to see anything meh!

Chance of seeing whales is based on luck. - It is a huge boat with hundreds of people and it’s hard to see any of the whales or the orcas as it’s far away and people crowd around the boat to get best view, some people do not get the chance to see anything. I wouldn’t do it again, over $500 for 2 people when you can see whales back home for less than $100 in Australia.

Lack of contact details ruined a potentially wonderful experience - Our ship was slightly delayed in docking & the booking info/tickets did not show the company name or any means of contact - so we could not even look them up on-line, to try to find a contact number. As a result, we ran from the bus stop, in the dangerous ice & arrived to watch the boat cast off & leave ( although we were 20 mins late, we missed it by seconds ). It has been a dream of mine for years to go on a whale safari for many years. I am not sure if I will get the chance again - hundreds of pounds wasted too.
