Tour of the Aeolian Islands - Excellent organization of the tour, booked directly from the hotel, convenient departure time, spacious and clean motorboat. Crew available, well stocked bar ready to meet every need. The tour is well described by First Officer Angela who provides a detailed and very interesting picture of the islands to visit knowing them very thoroughly both from a geological, volcanological, environmental and worldly point of view. Really valuable his presence that helps you to better understand the importance of the tour
Beautiful bath in Stromboli, fascinating night visit to the Sciara del fuoco where it was possible to see live some explosions. Beautiful panarea.

Incredible trip but staff lacking - Lovely islands to visit. It is a loooong day so take lunch and dinner/ snacks if you have little ones. There is a snack bar on board but very limited selection.
Wouldn’t say the company is that good- not super helpful and sometimes rude.maybe only one staff member that was kind - not sure of his name. But the trip itself was incredible!

Beauty, poetry and simplicity at the service of the spirit of rest, adventure and knowledge. The Cat on the Roof offers and - I found myself fine to be a day trip, the three islands we still saw thanks to extra boat rides and the Guide of our very nice and experienced guide as well as passionate about the Aeolian Islands! Clear directions every time we got off and back on the boat and a super experience especially with the fire show of Stromboli
Highly recommended

Very strenuous, expensive excursion to beautiful islands, mass tourism - It probably depends on how important it is to see the islands and Stromboli. Since it is very strenuous especially in midsummer and due to the continuous sound on the boat and costs a lot of money overall, I would not make the trip anymore.
Pro:
> Comfortable boat with bar (drinks and small snacks).
> Beautiful islands with small charming towns, especially Panarea.
> Panarea has a nice architectural style, nice shops and restaurants (upscale price range)
> Beautiful sunset at Stromboli.
> Friendly staff, but mostly speaking only Italian.
> In Lipari there are business-minded taxi drivers who will take you reliably to the beach and back again for EUR 10,-.
> The stays Lipari, 2.5 hours and Panarea, 3 hours would be nice in itself (see contra)
Contra:
> Tripodi advertises that they value punctuality, so you have to be there 30 minutes before. In fact, they left 15 minutes late because they were still waiting for two groups of Italian girls who arrived much too late.
> They sell the tour with the languages German, English and Italian:
From about 7 hours on the boat is spoken 5 hours Italian and about 30 min English (when approached). Nobody knows German.
The continuous sound was very exhausting and annoying.
> In midsummer it is much too hot in small island towns and there are no easy ways to refresh yourself in the water if you don't want to jump into the water in the harbour. In the harbor area, many people stand and sit completely finished, just waiting around.
> In Panarea you are a part of the real mass tourism when there are about 3 boats
a 150 people at the port and most huddle in the shade,
because it's way too hot.
I also had the impression that the residents are not exactly pleased when many strangers huddle in their streets.
> Since you are picked up in Panarea already at 19:15 and the restaurants only open at 19:00, you can not go there to eat (only bars with snacks possible).
Most of the restaurants would probably be too expensive anyway e.g. spaghetti/pizza a EUR 30,-
> At the end of the day you spent a lot of money on the excursion, the parking fees at the port, drinks and food and the taxi in Lipari for a beach trip.
In midsummer, the excursion would have to be organized differently.
Even on the boat more rest would be better because the audience is very different.

Worst experience ever - I am giving one star but if I could I would give 0.
Being in Tropea, the tour to the Aeolian Islands is often offered and it sounds good in theory, but this was by far our worst vacation experience, some reasons:
1) the boat is old fashion, uncomfortable (especially if you have a 12h tour) and it does not have any real inner part, meaning everything is open either by windows or on the open, so that often people struggle with the heat and humidity.
2) when they say a guide is included, they don't mean the usual nice guide that goes with you on the islands and tells you interesting stuff. They mean that ONLY while in the boat and for a lot of hours, a woman is speaking incredibly loud and telling a lot of useless stuff (just in italian for the 99% of the time). Everybody we talked to in the boat were having headaches from this woman. People wanted to read or sleep during the longest trips and it was impossible because of her, she was essentially doing a monologue and nobody was listening.
3) the heat is terrible in the islands, and the humidity worse, and you won't find a single bar with air conditioning in most islands...
They left us in Panarea for over 2h although there is literally nothing to do, we were just sitting somewhere at some point, suffering the heat and waiting for them to come back. In Lipari which has more things to see, they only gave us 1h and we had to have lunch in that hour so...we saw nothing.
In Stromboli also little to see and the vulcano was not worth seeing if it means spending 12h of suffering.
4) everyone was pretty much destroyed by the time we drove back and the personnel was smoking and the smoke was going all around the deck, so one more thing you don't need when you are so tired.
5) the experience I can only compare to ryanair, as also they try to sell you something else during a good part of the trip.
Clearly not a comfortable experience. Seriously you should better spend the day at Scilla, Messina or some nice beaches around Palmi.

Well, but with Comerci - We booked this excursion for mid-August through an agency, all right, except that on the day of departure, after giving the balance to the hotes at the port of Tripodi, very nicely we are told that, since we have children with us, they make us leave at 10.30 instead of 11 so as not to be under the sun waiting. We very gladly accept, we are told that however we will make the trip with the Comerci ship. Once on board we discover that they had taken Lipari away, making us board the Comerci! They could tell us and let us choose if we wanted to remove Lipari from the trip since we had also booked to go there! Fortunately the crew of the Comerci is splendid and we had a great time, in fact, in the end we went better to travel with them

It's not worth it! - I cannot recommend the tour.
You sit on the boat for about 7 hours.
Arrive in Lipari and we had 4h stay, at lunchtime.
In the city it was too hot and to drive to a beach you pay per capita 10 € round and round.
Back to the ship and to Panarea: to get there to the beach you would have to take a taxi again. Go there, swim briefly, back.
Too stressful and not worth it.
By the volcano you're pretty far away
We could see the Sciara well, but was it all worth it???
Not for us. The long drive is really exhausting.
Too bad about the holiday day!
