Our first stop will be in Chan Chan, the ancient capital of the Chimú culture, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1986. The city comprises nine palaces, religious temples, and areas for production and housing for both the nobility and common people. During our visit, we will explore the Nik An palace, the only one that has been restored. The tour includes ceremonial plazas, small altars, patios, warehouses, a ceremonial well, and the funerary platform where King Chimú was buried. Many of these areas are adorned with beautiful reliefs of waves, cormorants, pelicans, fish, rhombuses, and other geometric figures, generally inspired by the sea. By the end of the visit, we will have a deeper understanding of the grandeur of the city and the Chimú culture. -
