Day1: Saigon - CaiBe - VinhLong - Ben Tre (Lunch/Dinner)
Cai Be Floating Market - Morning, our shuttle will take you out of town on an approx. 2hrs drive to Cai Lay where you collect your bicycles and enjoy a leisurely, two-hour bicycle ride on peaceful country lanes and quiet roads that pass through local villages and along canals.
We board our boat for a visit to the Cai Be floating market and cruise over the mighty Mekong river (~ 1.5km wide) to Binh Hoa Phuoc island. After lunch, we continue our cruise down Mekong river to Cho Lach canals, and start a short cycling on small paths under the green canopy alongside water, mostly shared with just pedestrians, other local cyclists and scooters, to discover the nursery gardens, fruit orchards around, and daily life of farmers. Returning to our boat, we cruise again one hour to Ben Tre for the night. Overnight home stay.
Day 2: BenTre to Saigon (Breakfast, Lunch)
Ben Tre Province - After breakfast, we start cycling on back country roads alongside river, seeing daily life of the locals, feeling lost on winding roads under the green coconut canopy. We also pass Ba Lai river, a smaller branch of Mekong on our way, to visit local workshops making various products from coconut that Ben Tre is famous for, such as coconut candy, coconut pandan waffle, sponge cake, etc…. Continue our bike ride toward Ham Luong bridge and have a Lunch at a local home.
After lunch, take hammock siesta or walking through local village to visit a farmer house breeding fighting cocks, or if energy permits, take to two wheels again for another 10km more to visit broom making workshop, a forge, and a coconut peeling workshop. We then board our boat for a cruise down the busy Ham Luong branch into a peaceful canal, including a rowing boat trip along narrow canals, to Ben Tre centre where you are picked up and transferred back to Saigon.
