Leo was great! Excellent bus company - Leo was amazing and spoke fluent English. Everything is super smooth from the 3min boat ride to the bus ride there and back. 100% recommend booking with this bus company

Nice and easy journey - We took the bus from Cat Ba to Hanoi at 0830 on a Saturday The journey was really smooth, we stopped along the way at a nice rest stop for food and drinks and a toilet break, and our guide Nam was very helpful

Ok bus journey - An easy bus journey from Cat Ba to Hanoi. Not amazing but a standard 3.5 hour trip to the centre. Dropped us off near our hotel

If you have all the time in the world use this company - Communication was poor. Their system of picking up people outside their accommodation worked fine Hanoi to CB but it was fairly time consuming. the return trip took a while because passengers weren’t there for pick up and we had to wait. Not the bus company fault. We stayed near no. 3 beach 1.4k from town and were told we would get a transfer to town to the main office. 5 minutes before the bus left from town we got a call telling us to go to the office in town. I had already made 2 calls confirming the transfer. A bus had arrived and it was sitting on the other side of the roundabout. Then a woman appeared on a scooter and confirmed my name and told me to get on the waiting bus. On the bus they rang and asked to speak to the driver saying they would tell the driver to take us to the port. Then I got another call telling me to get off at the bus office in town. All good, just a bit chaotic. But then this is Asia and we have smart phones! This service is fine if you’re happy to wait around for late people, boat to arrive and leave, and bus connections. On the way to Cat Ba there was a family with young children who by 4pm were over the traveling. If you want efficient comfortable service don’t use this company. If you don’t care about waiting around go for it, the people who lead the transfers are good.

You don’t get what you pay for - Booked a round trip from Hanoi to Cat Ba, with Bookaway, I have an idea that they’re just a middle man though. Booked with a Limo Van and ferry, since I could see by the pictures and descriptions that it was a smaller vehicle with spacious seats. I ordered with pick up and drop off at our hotels. The booking process itself went smoothly, but that was the only thing. First I get contacted on WhatsApp the evening before from “Goodmorning Cat Ba”, which are the ones doing the actual transport. He wanted to refund me 200K and put me on a tourist bus and train instead. I declined this and did not hear more from him or get a confirmation that I still had my original booking until the next morning. So it was an uneasy feeling to go to bed with, not knowing if the transport we had booked would be there or not. Then it was a big bus that arrived instead of a van. We were only two families, so there was plenty of room, and the seats, in this limo bus as they called it, was still spacious, but still not what I booked. The rest of the trip over there was fine. The day before our return for Cat Ba we decided we wanted to see if we could return earlier, since they state that they have 4 departures a day and you can change/cancel for free up to 12 hours before departure and we had booked for the latest one (4pm). I contacted Bookaway online via their chat and quickly got a reply that it was possible and they moved me right away to the 9am and I got a new confirmation in my inbox. They were quick and efficient, but again I think they’re only a middle man, because that’s the end of the good service and efficiency. A couple of hours later I got contacted from a new WhatsApp number from “Goodmorning Cat Ba”. He stated that they only had a tourist bus and speedboat trip available, instead of limo van/bus, and he would refund me 200K for the change of transport type. We were reluctant to accept this as we could still go online and book the limo van and ferry. He excused this with he had “forgotten to closed off the booking system” and said the bus was good and it would not be crowded this season. We just wanted to get back to Hanoi and didn’t wanna go to bed uneasy, not knowing if we had transport or not like the first trip, so we accepted. Pick-up in itself was fine, he was there on the dot, whereas when we got picked up in Hanoi we had to wait around for about 35 minutes or so. The bus was, as we expected, not what we would have preferred, but somewhat doable despite the lack of care of the vehicle, with armrests out of order, seat pockets missing and air conditioner that was dripping water down etc. After we had picked up the rest of the tour and approaching the harbor, we passed a Limo bus, heading to the harbor too, as the one we had arrived with, where we could see there were only a handful of people on!!! Getting from the bus onto the speedboat was rather chaotic to say the least, with no real information on where to go, you just got handed a pass and then after standing and waiting confused you got rushed onboard a boat with locals kind of yelling at you. The boat ride itself was quick and fine. Then comes the second bus ride. The bus was in the same state as the previous and this one had the added bonus of some bugs that looked like small roaches running around. I had one on my shoulder at one point and almost jumped out of my seat!! The whole ride in general was uncomfortable and took way longer than what we had booked for! When we finally approached Hanoi and had dropped most of the other people off he wanted to drop us off on the side of the road a little walk from our hotel. I said we had ordered drop off at our hotel and he said the bus couldn’t go that way, which I found ridiculous as, firstly, we got picked up there and secondly the hop on/off bus goes by as well!!! So we were dropped off at the side of the road and when I informed him that he should expect a complaint, he just came with a snarky comment that we had gotten a 200k VND refund. We paid around 1,6million VND for the round trip in a spacious Limo Van with pick up and drop off at our hotels, and got a Limo bus out and a beat up, bug infested bus on the way back with drop off on the side of the road in the busy streets of Hanoi!!! That does not add up! As a whole my experience with” Goodmorning Cat Ba” via Bookaway, has been extremely disappointing and I would not recommend booking with them!!!

Not the best experience we had in Vietnam - Unfortunately this company accepted our booking but then refused to pick us up from our location or drop us off at the correct location. I am unsure why they accepted the booking and didn’t tell us they wouldn’t drop us off where we wanted to go until we were on the bus. I would not use this company again. Sure if I was by myself but making life harder when travelling with kids. They did nothing about dropping us closer to where we wanted to go, just what suited them

AVOID THIS AGENCY, no support in English and will promise a schedule they won’t commit. - We scheduled the 8:30am bus from Cat Ba to Hanoi as we needed to arrive to the airport by noon. We asked the agency if this was possible and they confirmed it was as the ride takes 3 hrs. We left their office 8:35am but spent over an hour picking up people from all over Hanoi !! We ended up arriving 1pm at Hanoi, 1hr 30min late compared to the schedule they promised. During the trip there’s only one person that speaks a little bit of English but it’s not enough in case you need assistance. Since we knew the bus was 1hr 30min behind schedule, we contacted the agency but they took way too long to respond. They said they would give us transportation to the airport when the bus arrives to their office in Hanoi, but the bus stopped somewhere in the middle of the highway and their staff didn’t speak English. We walked to their office which was supposed to be a few streets from that place but there was no office! Please, do you a favor and do not book a service with this agency.
