Perfect morning in Coba - One of the best days I've had in Mexico. Miguel is super knowledgeable, kind and fun. The pace of the birding was perfect and I learned a lot more than a trip to simply tick birds. I'll be booking again with Miguel on my next trip.

Amar Aves - An excellent Experience - My son and I decided on a private tour of Coba and Punta Laguna. Two great locations to visit and I highly recommend it. Our guide Claudio Lopez, is really passionate about birding and has a vast knowledge of the Mayan culture. This is the second tour with Claudio and definitely not the last. This is also my third tour with Amar Aves. This birding group impressed me the first time I went out with them and the reason why I continue to use them. If you are looking for a birding, nature, culture guide this is it! Gracias Claudio and Miguel. Hasta la proxima!

Amazing birding in Coba! - We had a great experience with Jose in Coba. He was very knowledgeable, friendly and passionate about biology and conservation. I highly recommend doing a tour with this company. Miguel the owner was so helpful and responsive, and made an effort to answer all of our questions and find the best tour for us. We saw so many incredible birds for the first time, which was very special. The highlights for us were: Keel-billed Toucan; all 3 Trogan's - Gartered, Collared and Black-headed; Red legged Honeycreeper; and Turquoise Motmot (we saw over 37 new species). Jose also does the eBird log, so we could just concentrate on birding and enjoying the moment. We also loved bike riding around the Coba archaeological site, very interesting and not crowded at all.

Incredible birding tour of Coba with the greatest guides in the Yucatan! - My family spent a week in Tulum and had the privilege of going birdwatching with Amar Aves. Our family were a group of 11, with birding skills ranging from those with 500+ lifers, to some who didn't know that bats aren't birds. Our guides (Jose, Marco, and Emiliano) were incredibly adept at sighting birds and species identification, and our driver (Charlie) was great at navigating the rough and tumble roads of Tulum. Additionally, all of our guides were extremely passionate about ornithology and were as excited as we were to be birding!

Great birding- excellent Guiding - We decided fairly last minute to visit Yucatán & contacted Miguel Amar.He listened to what we wanted to do & outlined a trip tailored to our needs. We’d n excellent time, visiting a variety of habitats. Our guide, Claudio was excellent, with top notch birding skills and determined that we spotted all of the birds that were present. This was the first of four days of touring (140+ species seen in all) Most people visiting the winter, and I was concerned about the heat, but the day was arranged so that we did most of the activity early & took it easy when it got hotter. There is a huge amount to see even in June, and there is always a cenote somewhere to jump into. Cannot rate this more highly!

Birds, Monkeys, Cenote, Cultural - all in one! - Excellent!!! Highly recommended! Miguel is experienced birder and knows the region very well. We were group of 4 and though I was the only birder in the group, everyone enjoyed the trip. Mot not, Trogons, Collared Zardari and Spider monkeys were highlights of the trip. We visited lake at Cobá, Coba natural reserve, local conservation and Punta Laguna. The lunch at local conservation was delicious. Swimming at Cenotes was quite an experience! Miguel recommended birding at Puerto Morelos. I did half day trip and it was really worth too.

So Many Birds, Such Beautiful Temples - To see birds, it is necessary to get up early. Pick up at our resort was 5:45 am on the dot, so the light breakfast Miguel provided was very welcome. The best coffee ever, and a delicious homemade energy bar. It was still early when we pulled up to a small grove of trees bordering Laguna Cobá. We saw, and Miguel helped us identify, 29 species of birds feasting on the the berries from these trees. Although most were new to me, it was fun to see some familiar faces, such as the Great Blue Heron, an Osprey, and 5 Pied-billed Grebes. Wandering through the town of Cobá, we spotted another 30 species. Then, off to the Zona arqueológica de Cobá. Sitting in relative comfort in a pedicab, and stopping often to view still many more birds, we learned about the history of the ancient city, and explored some of the temples that have been excavated. Our final stop was the largest of the temples, very beautiful. But here we spotted many more bird species feasting on bugs being driven out of hiding by ants. We were riveted by the the beautiful Trogons, Motmots, and Yucatan Jays, just to name a few. Exhausted, we were treated to a delicious lunch, and then a swim in a cenote that was almost private. I dozed in the van for much of the return trip. A wonderful day.

Lovely day !! - We went birding with my brother and his wife . They booked the tour with Miguel, he was the perfect guide for our group. My brother and sister in law are experienced birders, they loved the deep specific conversation they could have with Miguel about birds, their markings, calls, and unique traits . She even found a few "Lifers". My other sister was fun and light hearted about seeing any critter and everything was new. Miguel was personable and engaging with all of our family no matter their interest level in birds. He had plenty of water, healthy treats, including the best seedy granola bars made at a local bakery. He handled the details and we felt at ease throughout the day. In the morning we wandered some rural streets in the town of Coba , viewed birds along the lakes edge and wetland area. We also went to the ruins and found more birds there. At one point we enjoyed a ride on the the tricycles through the park.We ended the time with a meal at local cafe. It was a great time in nature, with good people, learning new things to wonder about.

Good birds, huge site, get the bikes! - José was our guide and Cesar was our driver. José had good knowledge of the birds and culture. He was not well organized; we did not get a toilet break or snacks until three hours into the tour, and we woke up at 5 (no breakfast, because a snack was supposed to be provided) and they were a half hour late picking us up at 6.30. The schedule said we would have lunch at 11.45, and we were at the archaeological site then with no water. All turned out fine, but people have expectations based upon a schedule. Swimming in the cenote was a pretty amazing experience, and Cesar gave us some good tips there.
