Additional Information

“The Shining Star”, also known as “The Baron’s House”, is a wonderful manor house established by Baron Rodolphe d’Erlanger (1872-1932) at the base of the Sidi Bou Saïd town, set in a park with a beautiful sea view. During World War II, it was inhabited and robbed by the German soldiers, with further destruction happening when Allied soldiers took residency. The mansion stands till this day and is now owned by the Tunisian government, which has converted it into a museum. A large amount of its original furnishings, paintings by Rodolphe d’Erlanger, and a supposed treasure box belonging to Suleiman the Magnificent are showcased there. Additionally, it hosts the Centre for Arab and Mediterranean Music that regularly organises concerts and displays an exquisite collection of historical musical instruments.
