Highlights
  • Zitouna Mosque - The Zitouna Mosque, or Mosque of the Olive Tree, is the main mosque in the medina of Tunis.

Attached to Malikism, it is the oldest and largest sanctuary in the capital of Tunisia. Built on an area of some 5,000 m2, the mosque has nine entrances and has 184 ancient columns mainly from the Carthage site.

  • Dar Lasram - Architecturally, the Dar Lasram, with an area of 2,250 m2, is an example of a traditional Tunisian house: on the ground floor the shop and the service house, upstairs the main house, on the upper level the guest house.

The palace is divided between the Medina Safeguarding Association and the Tahar-Haddad Cultural Club in the store.

  • Medersa Slimaniya - The Slimania medersa is one of the medersas in the medina of Tunis.

Built in 1754 by Ali I Pasha in memory of his son Suleiman (poisoned by his brother), it is located in the direct vicinity of the Zitouna mosque, at the corner of the souk El Koutbiya and the souk El Kachachine.

  • Souk Al Attarine - The souk El Attarine or souk of the perfumers is one of the souks of the medina of Tunis specialized in the trade of perfumes and beauty products.
  • Café du Souk - An emblematic café of the medina of Tunis.
  • Rue de la Kasbah - discovery of the Hammouda Pasha Mosque
  • Souk el-Birka - the market of Goldsmiths
  • Hammam el Kachachine - discovery of the hammam
  • souk chaouachia - visit of the souk of traditional “Chaouachine”
  • Dar El Jeld - photo break with this old house converted into a restaurant
  • Rue du Pacha - full of monuments in this street, including dar hammouda pasha, didi ben arous mausoleum and hammaouda pacha mosque.
  • Arts center Bir Lahjar - Madrasa Bir Lahjar is one of the madrasas of the Medina of Tunis.
It hosted for decades Malikite students coming from different regions in the country.

Excellent and Informative! - Our tour with Saber was my favorite activity we did in Tunisia. He was very informative and took us to spots we never would have found on our own. It was a good mix of history, architecture and understanding local lifestyles. He is a very genuine and experienced host. I’d highly recommend.

Magnificent experience in Tunisia - “I recently had the pleasure of meeting Saber who accompanied us during this unforgettable experience. Our tour started with the bus pick up at the port since we were on a cruise, during the journey to get to the kasbah he gave us a lot of information. Once we got off the bus we immersed ourselves in the streets showing us examples of traditional Tunisian houses, we stopped in a shop where they created headdresses starting from raw wool, then he took us into a specialized perfume souk where he told us all the process to create the essences, he let us taste a typical local coffee in a characteristic place, we admired breathtaking views from the rooftops, showing us places of prayer and much more. Once we got back on the bus he took us to Sidi bou Said (village with blue and white houses) we visited the palace museum always with Saber's explanation of all the details and savoring a classic mint tea, then going to a decoration shop and all the very characteristic streets finally delighted our palates by offering us desserts called bambluna. Once the tour was over we set off for a spectacular panoramic tour of Carthage. I certainly left out many things that I don't remember. With this I want to say to Saber that you can see that the work he does is truly done with heart and passion. Congratulations again and thank you for showing us so many things in a very short time. Thank you from all 19 people we were.

Medina Tour - Not only is Saber an extremely knowledgeable and experienced guide, he is a lovely person who has a good sense of humor, is smart, thoughtful, and is clearly passionate about the Medina, Tunis, and his work. Our family learned a great deal about the architecture, function, and history of the Medina. We highly recommend Saber and his Medina tour. We enjoyed every moment of our afternoon with Saber! Definitely take his tour!

Great experience - Saber provided an excellent historical introduction to Tunis. He is so knowledgeable, friendly and knows his stuff ( in five languages!) We learned, laughed, and had a fabulous lunch. He was flexible and patient. He comprehensively described how to get to our meeting point from the port, afterwards personally phoned and spoke to our taxi driver to ensure a safe return to the ship. A group of Aussies with little French and no Arabic, we were delighted with our experience.

Saber is a wonderful guide - Saber is an excellent guide -- knowledgeable, funny, interesting, and patient. Because of his experience and deep contacts in the Medina, we were able to see and explore sights that aren't available to the unguided traveler. He paced the tour beautifully, and we got to see some amazing interior spaces, along with rooftop views of Tunis. Along the way we learned so much about the history, culture, and architecture of the city. Saber's tour is a great introduction to the Medina and is highly recommended.

Eyes closed - We recommend Saber with our eyes closed!! He is a great guide, who knows a lot of things and a lot of places. We visited Carthage (knowledgeable on the subject) then Sidi Bou Saïd (in quiet streets) and the Medina of Tunis (seen by a local, it is so much better and so much more enriching). Very special mention for Saber who introduced us to couscous in a very typical restaurant far from the tourist traps… In short Saber is very professional and we had a great time with him. thank you for everything

A trip of which Saber was the exceptional guide exc - We were charmed by the kindness and availability of our guide Saber Arraki. He took us on a journey through Tunisia's rich past, showing us gems such as the palace of Baron d'Erlanger, and impressive archaeological sites like Oudhna or Dougga with a stopover at Testour. Saber went back in time with precision and pedagogy, a flawless culture. He organized, advised the stages with confidence, remembered the good addresses for restaurant breaks. This trip would not have been what it was without his discreet but attentive presence during the five days spent in this delicious country. We promise to use him for a future family trip and we recommend him without hesitation. A very big thank you to Saber.
