Additional Information

Visiting a mine is not something unheard of. Visiting a salt mine may already be a bit different, as there aren’t salt mine in all countries. But visiting a salt mine with an underground amusement park is definitely something you’ll not do every day. Be curious, be excited and you will be amazed! Turda salt mine is the answer for that!

And to bring the equilibrium to the day, visiting the village of Rimetea will enchant you with the peacefulness of the mountains, where the pace of life is so much different from the life in the big metropolis.

Last visit for the day is at Alba Iulia Vauban style fortress, a very special place both for Romanians and Hungarians.

Great Day Learning About the History of Romania - I greatly appreciated this tour from Geta. From the beginning of the tour she was friendly, helpful and full of useful facts. Being that she was from the local area helped immensely. We started off the day at the Turda Salt Mine - very interesting tour about the origins of the mine. I even got to row around the mini lake in one of the mines. Next we drove to and stopped at Rimitea Village. It was very insightful to learn about the blended history of this quaint town. We drove a bit further to have lunch at a B & B with an authentic Hungarian atmosphere. I especially enjoyed the good recommendations for food and local Transylvaninia beer. More driving took us to the final destination of Alba Iulia. What a wonderful place full of historic buildings, landmarks, and even an Orhtodox church. All in all, a wonderful experience with a great guide. I highly recommend this tour!

Fascinating day in Carpathian Mountains - Day 2 (see my review on Day 1 - Cluj walking city tour) As yesterday, Joseph picked us up from our hotel and we headed towards the Turda Salt Mines where we spent amazing 1,5 h. The drive to Rimetea was a joyful journey with astonishing views on the Carpathian Mountains. We've learned about local village life and had a yummy traditional lunch at a local restaurant. I loved visiting Alba Iulia - cultural heritage left by Romans. I would recommend Get a Cluj Tour to anyone coming to Romania as a tourist or to anyone considering moving to Cluj.

Greatest tour! - We had an absolutely amazing day! Especially the Alba Lulia is so worth the visit! Exellent guide with enormous knowledge of the history of Transylvania and very well organised trip. We had all the time we wanted in each location and felt safe and well taken care of the whole day!. It has given us a much broader knowledge of Romania and the whole trips was worth every dollar spend. Only small thing you might want to be aware of (and that has nothing to do with the tour) is that what is advertised by the Salt Mine as an underground amusement park... is at best a recreational area with bit of table tennis, billiard and a very slow Ferris wheel. On the other hand we loved the scenery on all of the day and all the great information about places visited and history told by our most competent guide.

First class tour - exceptional and highly recommended. - Took two tours one with Josef the other with a different tour company- no comparison between them josef’s was very professional and probably the best tour we’ve ever been on. He was so well organised, pointed out many things we would have missed, answered all our questions with attention to detail and let us dictate the pace. He set the bar high and we were disappointed with the second tour we had booked with a different company - nowhere near the same the quality. He took us to a traditional Romanian restaurant for lunch which was beautiful, knew where all the cleanest toilets were and gave us plenty of time to explore all the attractions. His knowledge and expertise exceeded expectations and we couldn’t recommend him highly enough!

INCREDIBLE day, FANTASTIC guide, highly recommend!! - Wow, where to begin with this review? First off, it was great to be able to hit three places I wanted to go around Cluj in one day, as I had a limited amount of time. I didn't feel rushed through any of stops, and felt like I had enough time to learn about and experience each place. We got to Turda early enough to beat the crowds, which was great, and its a very unique sight to see. Alba Iulia had so much history and you can see each layer of it which is really cool. Rimetea was beautiful and well preserved! The best part of the tour, however, was my tour guide Joseph. He's insanely knowledgeable about Romania, and I must have asked a million questions and he had thoughtful, in-depth answers to every single one of them, whether they directly pertained to the sights we were seeing or not. He's great at explaining complex history, physics, politics and more in an interesting, intriguing way. I walked away from this tour feeling like my brain was filled to the brim, and everything I learned I've been able to take with me as I tour the rest of Romania to understand everything else I'm seeing better. He even gave me some good tips about what to see when in Brasov and Sibiu when I told him I was traveling there next and he gave me a little bit of history about those places as well. I cannot recommend this tour enough! The highest quality and I was completely blown away by the day I had. Thank you so much Joseph!!

Great tour - This was a really fun and interesting tour. My main interest heading out was the Alba Iulia fortress but I found the mine fascinating. The guide was great and made sure we stayed ahead of the crowds, he also provided a lot of information about the history and culture of Romania.
