Turmi is situated in the southeastern part of Omo and is home to the Hamer people.
The Hamer are known for their striking appearance, with both men and women taking great pride in their looks. They shave and color their hair, oil their bodies, and adorn themselves with beads and bracelets on their arms and legs.
You will visit a local Hamer village and spend the day getting to know the Hamer people.
Additionally, if there is a ceremony such as bull jumping, you will have the opportunity to witness it.
Day 2: Turmi - Karo - Turmi
Turmi - Today, early in the morning, travel to the Kara village. The Kara tribe is one of the smallest in the area, with only 3,000 people. They reside on the west bank of the Omo River and are renowned for their mastery of body painting, which they use for beautification. Today, you will meet these authentic people in one of their second-largest villages, called Dus, which is one of the most remote and least visited by tourists, and holds great significance for the Kara people.
Spend some time with the Kara people. Later, return to Jinka.
Before reaching Jinka, you will stop at Alduba, one of the largest and most vibrant weekly tribal markets, where more than three different tribal groups gather for various reasons.
Jinka - Mursi - Addis Ababa
Mursi & Mago National Park - Once again, early in the morning, travel 70 km to visit the Mursi tribe, who reside within Mago National Park. They are famous for the unique custom among their women, who, upon reaching maturity, have their lower lips slit and circular clay discs inserted. Arrive at the village in the late morning and spend time visiting the Mursi village and sharing experiences with the local Mursi people.
Return to Jinka to catch the flight back to Addis.
