Egyptian Museum - The Egyptian Museum is the world’s oldest museum solely dedicated to Egyptian culture. A private guide will explain the key stages of its development, from the collection’s inception to the present day. Among its unmatched antiquities is the Narmer Palette, which commemorates the unification of Upper and Lower Egypt under one ruler. The museum also houses statues of the great Kings Cheops, Chephren, and Menkaure, the builders of the Pyramids of Giza.
Hanging Church (El Muallaqa, Sitt Mariam, St Mary) - Visit Cairo’s oldest church, located in the city’s old quarter. Known as the Hanging Church or Virgin Mary Church, it offers insights into Egypt’s Christian history. Built atop two ancient Roman fortress towers, the church is a crucial stop on any tour of sites associated with the Holy Family. Its interior features Greek Orthodox-style icons and thirteen pillars representing Christ and the twelve apostles.
Church of St. Sergius and Bacchus - Also known as Abu Serga, this ancient church is built on the site where the Holy Family stayed during their escape. Located in the Complex of Religions in Old Cairo, within the Fortress of Babylon, the church’s design follows the basilica layout, comprising a porch, nave, and sanctuary, with an underground cave beneath the sanctuary. The church is notable for its unique architectural and artistic elements, including the pulpit, font, ivory and wood inlaid templons, and religious decorations of saints and apostles.
Bazar Khan El-Khalili - One of Cairo’s oldest markets, Khan el-Khalili is a bustling, colorful, and aromatic souk in the old city. Its labyrinthine streets are like open-air museums, making it the best place in town to buy souvenirs and replicas of Ancient Egyptian artifacts.
Giza sightseeing, Pyramids, Sakkara Tour, and Memphis
Giza Necropolis - Your private Egyptologist guide will meet you at your hotel and accompany you by air-conditioned car to visit the Pyramids of Giza, the eternal resting places of the pharaohs of the 4th dynasty (2550 B.C.). You’ll visit the three famous pyramids of the Giza Plateau (Cheops, Khafre, and Menkaure) and the smaller pyramids of the queens.
Pyramids of Giza - Explore the world’s most famous landmarks, the Giza pyramids. Our specialist archaeologist tour guide will share numerous stories and secrets about the pyramids. You’ll visit nine pyramids in total, including three belonging to the kings of the 4th dynasty and six smaller pyramids for the queens of ancient Egypt.
Great Sphinx - After visiting the pyramids, you’ll see the Valley Temple of King Khafre, built to mummify his body. The temple is connected to the Great Sphinx, which has the head of King Khafre and the body of a lion to guard his pyramid. Known in Arabic as Abu Al Hol (Father of Terror), the Sphinx was named by the ancient Greeks because it resembled their mythical winged monster. Geological surveys suggest it was carved from bedrock during Khafre’s reign, likely depicting his features. Our professional Egyptologist guide will share many stories and secrets about the Valley Temple and the Great Sphinx.
Saqqara - Visit the Saqqara (Sakkara) Pyramids, including the Step Pyramid of Djoser, the first stone structure in history and the earliest pyramid. You’ll also see pyramids from the fifth and sixth dynasties, with a special tour inside to view the beautiful hieroglyphics. Finally, explore the Old Kingdom tombs, which feature stunning paintings and colors.
Memphis and Sakkara - Discover Memphis, founded around 3100 BC and the legendary city of Menes. Visit the open-air museum of Memphis and see the second-largest Sphinx in Egypt. The museum’s highlight is a colossal limestone statue of Ramses II, lying on its back, allowing close inspection of its detailed carvings. Its twin once stood in Midan Ramses in Cairo until it was moved to the Grand Egyptian Museum construction site in 2006.
