You will get an inside view of the Cathedral Church of St. Nicholas and Newcastle’s Castle, both of which are integral to the city’s historic center.
Established in 1080 by a son of William the Conqueror, Newcastle’s castle has been the bastion against Scottish invasions, including an unsuccessful attempt by none other than William Wallace (known from Braveheart). St. Nicholas Cathedral church was first recorded in 1092 and evolved into Newcastle’s main parish.
Embarking on this tour is an excellent way to delve into Newcastle’s past and sights, in order to understand how the city has made its mark on the world.
