Begin the journey from Arusha in the morning, heading towards Lake Manyara and arriving just in time for lunch. Spanning 50km along the base of the stunning 600-meter high Rift Valley escarpments, Lake Manyara is a picturesque treasure, praised by Ernest Hemingway as “the loveliest I had seen in Africa.” The compact game viewing circuit in Manyara offers a miniature version of the Tanzanian safari experience. Enjoy an afternoon game drive to explore the park. Dinner and overnight stay at a lodge.
Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater
After an early breakfast, set off for Ngorongoro Crater, arriving in time for lunch. Post-lunch, descend into the crater with a special 4WD. Known as the eighth wonder of the world, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area in northern Tanzania spans approximately 8,300 sq km and offers an unparalleled mix of landscapes, wildlife, people, and archaeology in Africa. The area’s volcanoes, grasslands, waterfalls, and mountain forests are home to a rich variety of animals and the Maasai people. In the evening, ascend the crater for dinner and an overnight stay at a lodge.
Day 3: Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, drive to Tarangire Park. Following lunch, embark on an afternoon game drive to explore the park, renowned for its tree-climbing pythons. The intense sun draws moisture from the landscape, turning the earth into a dusty red, with the dry grass as brittle as straw. The Tarangire River, reduced to a mere shadow of its wet season self, is teeming with wildlife. Tarangire’s pythons, along with its lions and leopards, climb trees, lounging in the branches where the fruit of the sausage tree conceals the twitch of a tail. Meals and overnight stay at a lodge.
Day 4: Arusha
After breakfast, enjoy a morning game viewing drive in Tarangire National Park, then return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, depart for Arusha town to continue to the next destination.
