A balm for the soul - Away from the moped madness of most of Bali this was a blissful hour spent in a languid art museum with a mix of old and new paintings and carvings, gardens with curiosities around every corner and a free coffee to contemplate everything at the end of it. A mere handful of respectful visitors and friendly laid back staff made this a favourite hour of my holiday.

Experience the beautiful art and sculpture of Bali - Beautiful collection of 19th-21st century Balinese art by local and western artists. Interesting history of the foundation of ARMA - collaboration between Balinese government and artists. Free lunch with ticket ! And wonderful range of additional activities. We learnt how to play the gamelan on traditional instruments with a local expert!

Wonderful art museum in the heart of Ubud - We really enjoyed seeing the art collection which is relatively extensive. The museum grounds are a very pleasant way to take a break from the hustle and bustle of “downtown” Ubud. We also enjoyed having a light lunch in the restaurant. The food was reasonably priced and delicious and the atmosphere was very pleasant and relaxing.

Oasis in the Ubud frenzy - So yea, at 150k rupiahs, it’s quite an expensive entry fee. Not sure if all the art I saw was worth that fee. BUT many pieces are beautiful or intriguing (I especially liked the work by expat Walter Spies), you can take photos (even though signs say not to which is silly considering the price!) and the grounds are incredibly beautiful. Honestly, after seeing the art, I enjoyed potentially just as much wandering the resort grounds. Definitely made me want to book the resort the next time I’m in Bali! (hotel stay included the museum). The museum ticket includes a coffee or tea at the on-site restaurant. Also there is a very cool painting and woodblocking exhibition on by Japanese/Bali artist Comeon Komatsu. Only minor criticism otherwise is the stuffiness of the museums on site: fans (if not AC!) would make the experience much better.

Beautiful art in a beautiful setting - A chance to get to know beautiful Indonesian art. It’s a complex of several buildings that allows you to take breaks for some rest with a refreshing drink in a beautiful tropical garden. Give yourself time to take it in.

Beautiful setting - This place is both a museum and a resort, and also a place where to watch traditional dance. I became a bit envious when I saw it - if ever in Ubud again, I would like to stay at this resort 😊 The museum part was divided into different buildings, we found it a bit difficult to locate some of the exhibitions - not sure we saw them all. The entrance is quite expensive - 100.000 rp - but that then includes an ice-tea or the like + a small snack in the cafe. It is wonderful to walk around this historic place - highly recommendable.

museum in the garden - visited ARMA the art museum last year in November,it was the second time i came here.the first time,i joined a woodcarving class, after that,i visited the arts museum. since it was many years ago,so this time, when i stayed around this area,i just want to visit the museum again,to see its arts collection,so came here again.the collection is great, after many years,my knowledge of Balinese painting increased,so the feeling different from the first time.this museum located in a garden, the surroundings is nice and beautiful, took many photos here.there is an arts shop attached, also a cafe inside, when you buy the ticket, you can get one free Balinese snack and a cup of coffee or tea.so you can have a very artistic day here. there are many arts workshop held here,i even admired a male dance teacher teaching local kids how to dance, all are boys, very special, cuz most dance is for girls or woman, but the dance he taught is for man, maybe it is Baris Dance, not sure of it,may learn it in the future.
