- Elephant Cave - Goa Gajah Temple, also known as Elephant Cave Temple, is an ancient site featuring a cave with significant artistic and historical value. It is a popular tourist destination in Bali, attracting many visitors. The cave is situated at the edge of a crevasse formed by the confluence of two streams, the Pangkung River and the Petanu River, known as Campuhan. The name ‘Goa Gajah’ is believed to derive from ‘Lwa Gajah,’ a term referring to a Buddhist temple or hermitage for monks. The name is mentioned in the Negara Kertagama manuscript, compiled by Mpu Prapanca in 1365 AD. This historical site showcases a blend of Buddhist and Hindu Shiva beliefs, evident from the relics found here, and is often included in one-day tours to Besakih Temple.
- Besakih Temple - Since the 15th century, Besakih Temple has been regarded as the central temple of Hinduism in Bali. Also known as Pura Penataran Agung, it is Bali’s main place of worship, consisting of a complex of twenty-two temples set on parallel ridges. The Besakih Temple complex embodies the Balinese belief in Tri Hita Kirana, which emphasizes living in balance and harmony with God, society, and the natural environment. The name ‘Besakih’ is derived from ‘Basuki,’ an old Sanskrit word. Known as the Mother Temple of Bali, it is the largest temple on the island. Visitors can enjoy exploring the temple and its historically significant structures during a full-day Besakih Tour.
- Taman Wisata Kertha Gosa - The Kerta Gosa Ancient Justice Court Palace is an open-air building designed in Balinese architectural style, serving as a judicial venue where the king would announce laws, jurisdiction, and penalties. It is one of the interesting sites visited during the Besakih Tour. Surrounded by a fishpond and tropical plants, the site is aesthetically pleasing. The roof of the building is adorned with ancient puppet illustrations. The unique feature of Kerta Gosa, along with Bale Kambang, is the traditional Kamasan-style paintings on the ceiling. This ancient courthouse is characterized by Balinese carvings and relics found within the building.
- Goa Lawah Temple - Goa Lawah Temple in Klungkung is a notable site featuring a cave that houses thousands of bats. It is a significant temple for Balinese Hindus, who use it as a place of worship. This eastern Bali tourist destination is located near a natural cave inhabited by bats, situated north of the central area of Goa Lawah Temple. The cave is opposite a beautiful black sand beach along the coast. The name ‘Goa Lawah’ consists of two syllables meaning ‘cave’ and ‘bat.’
