- Puseh Batuan Temple - Pura Puseh Batuan is a shrine owned by the villagers of Batuan Village in the Sukawati district of Gianyar regency. The temple is part of the “Tri Kahyangan or Tri Murti” concept taught by Mpu Kuturan around the 10th century to the Balinese Hindu community. Tri Kahyangan includes three temples: Pura Desa or Village Temple for worshiping God Brahma, Pura Puseh for worshiping God Vishnu, and Pura Dalem for worshiping Lord Shiva. Pura Desa and Pura Puseh Batuan were founded in the year 944 isaka (1020 AD), making them nearly 1000 years old. Not all buildings are original; some have been renovated. The Meru, Bale-bale, grand gates, and statues showcase the rich Balinese ornaments in this temple. At the temple parking area, there is a stage used as a meeting hall and for practicing various Balinese dances such as Gambuh dance, Pendet dance, etc.
- Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary - Monkey Forest Ubud has a significant history intertwined with Balinese culture. Dating back to the 14th century, it has been regarded as a sacred place, housing spiritual forces and guardian spirits. The monkeys, seen as sacred animals, symbolize both protection and mischief, fostering a unique connection between humans and wildlife. In the 20th century, Monkey Forest Ubud gained recognition as a vital conservation area. Efforts were made to preserve its natural beauty, promote responsible tourism, and raise awareness about its cultural and environmental significance. Today, it stands as a cherished sanctuary where visitors can connect with nature, observe captivating monkey behavior, and support ongoing conservation efforts.
- Puri Saren Palace - Puri Saren Agung is where Ubud’s long tradition of home stays began over 80 years ago when Bali first started attracting bohemian artists from around the world. Renting one of five traditional stone bungalows in the sumptuous royal courtyard is still quite an experience. Every night, the palace comes alive with the sound of Gamelan music as Balinese dances are performed just across the wall from Puri Saren Agung.
- Tegalalang Rice Terrace - Tegalalang Rice Terrace features a series of cascading rice fields and is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The area is especially popular during sunrise and sunset. Take your time to explore the terraces, visit the nearby Bali Pulina plantation, and try the mountain-edge swings. To see the fields at their greenest, visit in March, August, or September. They are also green in December and February but can be slippery due to the rainy season. The rice terrace is commonly visited on a tour of Ubud, which includes other places of interest like the Monkey Forest, Tegenungan Waterfall, and Tirta Empul Temple.
- Tirta Empul Temple - One of the busiest water temples in Indonesia, Tirta Empul is considered sacred by the Balinese Hindu community. The temple has several holy springs said to have been created by the God Indra and believed to be blessed water that can purify those who bathe there. Tirta Empul is dedicated to Vishnu, the Hindu God of water. In the Balinese language, Tirta Empul loosely translates to water gushing from the earth, which is why it is regarded as a holy spring. The Tirta Empul Temple includes shrines to Shiva, Vishnu, Brahma, as well as one for Indra and Mount Batur. It is considered one of the five most holy temples in all of Bali and one of the holiest water sources in Bali.
