Truly authentic Balinese experience! - Kadek and Sangayu’s cooking class was our favorite activity in Bali. Upon arrival we were surprised to find that we are actually cooking in their family home, where their entire family and extended families reside. We were offered tea and some homemade snacks, then began the cooking process in their outdoor kitchen. Pretty much every ingredient used was home grown, there were even some that I’ve never seen before which are native to Bali. They taught us not just cooking but a lot about their culture, and how they would make hundreds of portions of these dishes during special occasions for the whole village. In the end we all ate together like they do with their families. After cooking Kadek gave us a house tour, it was interesting because there’s an actual temple in the house. He gave insight about their religion and customs which were unique to the Balinese culture. Afterwards we toured the garden where the produce are grown, and got to see their chickens and pigs, Kadek even picked a passion fruit from their garden for us as dessert. This was truly the most authentic Airbnb experience I’ve ever done. It’s more like experiencing a half day in Kadek and Sangayu’s life, you can feel their connection to their family, village, and culture. Not to mention they’re also great hosts and Kadek took some great pics for us. It’s a bit far but this is a must do and I would highly recommend it, we can’t wait to come back and explore the village and surrounding areas more!

Best Balinese experience - Wow!! Hands down one of the best local experiences that Kadek & Sangayu gave us, an absolute up close and personal experience. It was more than we had expected. It was a wonderful inside out story telling journey that takes you inside the culture, from the flavor of every single spice that our taste buds savored, to experiencing one an one offering ritual making and their wonderful ancestral history, which brings you closer understanding of the beautiful Balinese culture.

Great private cooking class experience with delicious food - We wanted to experience learning how to cook Balinese style cuisine, and this private class was spot on! Most classes we found were group classes, but private classes like this one really lets you have more hands on experience while getting to know the host’s family and traditions. We were picked up at our hotel and driven to Kadek’s family compound in a small village. All the ingredients are fresh and the menu was well thought out. Would definitely recommend to try this experience out.

Amazing Cooking Experience In BALI - “This workshop was so much fun! Kadek picked me up from my guesthouse in Ubud and his place was about a 30 minute ride north. It’s a beautiful little village away from the craziness of Ubud. The workshop takes place in his family home, and there was a real family feel with his son and mum helping out too. It was fascinating to go through the process of pressing coconut oil, and Kadek took great care to explain about all aspects of Balinese culture. I also got a little tour round the village and saw the woodcarvers and silversmith. It was just me on this occasion so it didn’t take as long to boil up the oil as if there had been a number together, and so on the way back Kadek took me to see the rice terraces and taste Luwak coffee as well! I would really recommend booking this experience if you want a taste of the real Bali,
