Excellent excursion - We arranged this excursion through TUI and we had a brilliant day out. All transport was provided by Masons. The rafting was excellent and we had a great time with the other couple and the staff member in our group. After rafting, we went for lunch provided by Masons. The lunch was good. We then went for buggying. While we enjoyed the buggying, it didn't live up to our expectations. It was a short activity (approx 30 minutes, 2 laps of the track). Overall, it was a good day out.

Absolute fun day - White Water rafting started with the 600 steps heading down to the river! My legs were shaking like jelly by the time we got to the bottom. Fun began when we jumped into the boats and we had the best laugh with our guide. With getting water thrown at us, to bumping into the rocks, he had us in hysterics all the way. I was apprehensive about water rafting, but it was a gentle 12km ride and it was quite spectacular. Then the dismount to get up 300 stairs, which I truly struggled with.... our guide and my hubby supported me all the way back up. I truly appreciated the guide taking care of me and waited until I made it back to the top. Lunch was pretty good, just had to pay for drinks. Loved the buggy ride! We had the best day and the staff were very professional. Lunch was amazing and the infinity pool was spectacular. Masons are a very reputable company, who take extra care and responsibility for their guests. Very safe and well arranged trips.

Rlm712 - Rafting was fun even though the river was low. BUT no one tells you it is 600 steps down to the river wearing your lifejacket and carrying paddle, then we had to get out of boat and walk/slide over rocks and mud cause of dangerous rapids while the guides paddles the boat through rapids, then clamber back in, bring own water bottle. No water during whole trip.
Then you get back to the start another 200+ steep steps that were hell. guide was very good and cheeky fun, stayed with me all the way up, lunch at end was good. Opportunity to jump out and swim and sit under waterfall. But would not have done if told about the million steps, do not attempt if you have any mobility issues

So sore the day after and can't walk - Mason Adventure rafting well... The rafting was fantastic but you have to get down there first! Try 700 steps of absolute hell. When you start to think it's not worth it, when your legs literally turn to jelly, when you can't see from the sweat in your eyes and the guide takes your paddle then you think that taking your shoes off might be safer on the moss covered steps and someone else takes them as well. I made it but Holy smoke walking on flat ground was an effort and needed help. And then... After 2 hours of rafting you have another 400 to go up. 40 steps in the people carrying the rafts up (65kg) passed me. I am mildly fit but that got me and am suffering like no other. What stuns me, is that not too many have said anything about them and I am not a whiss. A memory that will last days cause the pain is extreme. Train for a year at least before attempting the trek down and back up. Just stupid and I guess a tad dangerous.

Not the best - So we did the jungle buggies here and have to say I was quite disappointed. Firstly when booked I was told they don’t have insurance so if I damage the vehicle then I have to pay and as it is a jungle buggy you expect to drive a little crazy but due to no insurance I had to literally drive but at the same time make sure I didn’t damage the vehicle specially as one of their worker was with you. Secondly the track it self was boring unlike ATV where you drive through different terrains this was literally a track where you did laps so after the first lap it got repetitive and boring. So overall I wouldn’t recommend it.

A MUST READ BEFORE YOU BOOK - A very friendly taxi driver picked us up from our hotel and was very good at pointing out interesting things on the way to the jungle buggies but that’s about where the positives end. He was very nice and friendly and was refreshing to see.
NO INSURANCE (OR OPTION)
We got to the buggies around 9am and after signing your bank account away we were ready to go. You sign a waiver saying YOU are responsible for ALL damage and there’s no option to buy optional insurance at all which is fine. I wasn’t planning on crashing or going all hell for leather but hey ho.
WATCH OUT FOR LAPS
We thought we were doing 3 laps, turns out when you book a package you only get 2 but that’s not clear online unlike it is in their books.
SLOWWWWW
After throwing on a helmet and using the lockers provided, we watched a 30 second video on how to not drive the buggies of people going extremely quickly and then hopped in and away we went, no checks on seatbelts, no checks on the buggies prior damage, no checks on how to use the machines.
We did one lap of this 10m long roundabout ish style paved thing and then went to the track. At this point I assumed we’d be doing a little intro and then allowed to go free but no, we were driven around the ‘5km’ track at about 10-15kmh for two laps. The fastest we went was about 30kph when we had to stop for a chicken on the track. There are overtaking lanes which I assume are only for show and the whole thing was a complete bore tbh. We had done this before in Europe and Africa and was far more entertaining and exhilarating.
We got out the buggies at 10am and was offered lunch and told our lift wasn’t going to be picking us up to go rafting until 1pm! We’ll obviously there was an abundance of no activities to do so we asked if we could have a lift to the nearby elephant ‘sanctuary’ (that’s for a different review’ which they kindly did for us.
RAFTING GOT CANCELLED
Unfortunately due to the rain the rafting was cancelled (which is apparently common so be aware of this particularly in the weeks approaching & rainy seasons) and they refunded 1/2 of the monies, despite me expressing my disappointment in the buggies.
Bali is a lovely place full of wonderful activities but unfortunately this was just not worth the monies. We put a lot of the £165 value on the rafting and to pay £82.50 to do some slow drive around a track for 20 mins just isn’t worth the time whilst you are here.
