Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary - Stroll through a cave-like entrance, one of Monkey Forest best-kept secrets as well as Dragon Bridges with beautiful banyan trees and ancient temples that are believed to be inspired by the tree of life from the ‘Avatar’ movie by James Cameron. Continue to Pura Beji, an ancient bathing temple which can be accessed by going down a flight of stairs and next to a stream.
Reach the 14th century Pura Dalem Agung Padangtegal which is dedicated to village funerals and acts as another playground of the macaques. Stop to take a selfie with a monkey that you can share with friends and family on social media.

Not only is the Monkey Forest home to numerous monkeys, it’s also famous for its verdant surroundings and age-old temples. The forest boasts several paths through the thick flora that visitors can use to watch the monkeys in their natural setting. Remember, however, these monkeys are not domesticated and can be impish. Hence, tourists are encouraged to act cautiously and adhere to the rules established by the park officials.

Great learning experience - Had a great time visiting the monkey sanctuary. My guide Rama was super helpful and knowledgeable, and explained a lot about Bali philosophy when we got to the temples. Definitely recommend.

Great experience - Very good experience ketut Udi Dr, had a lot of knowledge and answered any questions asked. Be careful and make sure to wear appropriate clothing.

Great guided tour - Well worth taking this tour with Rama. He collects the tickets on your behalf so there is no queuing necessary. Rama is knowledgeable and guides you through the forest taking photos along the way. We all really enjoyed this tour! Thanks Rama!

Sana is amazing!!!!! - Sana was the best guide I’ve ever experienced! I wish I could have him for everything. His English was great! His knowledge and everything he shared around Balinese culture was very enlightening. He is very in tune with his country and culture and I loved hearing his perspective and what he valued. I would recommend him to everyone. He even dropped off some of his mums homemade incense to my hostel later that afternoon and said if I have any questions around temples/attractions I visit, to just send him a text and he’d reply. So kind!

Monkeys and traditions - Sana was the best guide! He gave me a lot of information about the traditions and philosophy of Balinese people, while walking around and watching monkeys. And he answered all of my questions with so much enthusiasm and pride! I highly recommend this tour.

Amazing - We had an amazing experience visiting this beautiful location. The monkeys were so cute and being up close was a once in a lifetime experience. Our tour guide Sana did a great job explaining everything and taking care of us.

We had a very nice guide named Rama. He knew the forest well and took us expertly through it all - An amazing jungle setting with more than 1000 monkeys who interacted with us humans in the most peculiar ways. Our guide was very nice and did all he could to make sure we had a great experience. Only downside is the fact that it is a tourist magnet (and yes I am of course part of that equation) so that numbs the uniqueness of the experience a bit, but definitely worth one’s time and I recommend having a guide accompanying you.
