Highlights
  • Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain - The Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain is the new hidden gem and secret of Cusco. With less than 1 hour to hike to the peak and 3 beautiful Rainbow Mountains with tons of wild alpacas around, this is the new alternative Rainbow Mountain to the still popular Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain. But the preferences are changing, as travelers don’t want to suffer under the 3-4 hour hike to the Vinicunca, especially as the altitude makes it a bad experience. So compare and decide what’s the best option for you here.
  • Checacupe - This bridge has ancient buildings that are from Inca times, colonial times and republican times.

We will stop at this place and see the 3 bridges that are still working for the andean people.

  • Cusipata - Is an small town o the way to thew Rainbow Mountain Palccoyo.

This is a place where we will take the breakfast and Lunch.

Additional Information

Palcoyo Mountain is a stunning destination for reaching heights that are otherwise uncommon. Your journey will weave through quaint Andean hamlets, with numerous Llamas and Alpacas along the way. From the base of Palcoyo Mountain, the view of one of its three peaks is already visible from the car park. The area is pleasantly secluded, offering a peaceful retreat after the busy tourist-filled spots of Cusco and the Sacred Valley.

The path to the top is what the locals refer to as ‘Andean flats’ \

Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain Tours Rocks! - The trip to Palccoyo was an amazing experience and we had the time of our lives. Traveling to and from the site is a bit arduous due to poor road conditions; however, the driver did a fantastic job and we felt safe. The guide was very knowledgeable about the area and went above and beyond in providing service and ensuring we enjoyed our visit. We were well pleased and would do it again.

Alternative Rainbow Mountains - We took our rental car Kia Piccanto all the way to the start of the trail. It was a long drive from Cuzco but totally worth it. No people, beautiful views.

Fantastic and breathtaking hike to 5200m for a colorful view - Amazing experience . Private tour from Cusco. With private driver and guide. Not the standard route that is very busy, but via Palccoy Rainbow tour. It is the lightest tour to get into the Rainbow Mountains. A very nice trip from Cusco, about 3 hours. A very large part goes all the way inside. Admission is 15 Sol p/p. You reach approximately 4850m, then a reasonable 1-hour hike up (5200m) and down. Very easy to do and literally and figuratively breathtaking. It's under construction there. Still wonderfully quiet now. It is cold, so warm clothes, hat and gloves.

Unique place in the world - We didn't know whether to choose Viniculca or Palccoyo, but then (following the suggestion of the local tour operator Intense Peru) we chose Palccoyo ... and it was a fantastic choice!!! From Cusco it's about 3 hours by car, of which the last 2 hours are on dirt roads (and also poorly maintained). Arriving at the final car park (after passing some very delightful local villages) we immediately realized that the choice was perfect. In the whole car park there were only 3 other minibuses! The climb takes about 2 hours for only 200 meters of altitude difference, but the view from the summit is simply unique!!!!!!!!!! Beautiful colours, imposing ice and petrified forest are the backdrop to this unique and unforgettable site!!!!! It will remain in my mind forever!! Absolutely worth visiting

Private mountain with amazing views - What a great experience! Palccoyo mountain is way less crowded than the other rainbow mountain and the views are spectacular. Due to no other bookings we had a private tour with our guide Annibal and driver Moyses. The 3 hour drive to the mountain is cut in half by a very nice breakfast and dinner. The last 1.5 hour drive you will get treated to nice views of the mountain region and lots of Alpaca's. During the trek we were in very safe hands with our guide Annibal. He brougt oxygen, walking sticks and even a blood oxygen meter should someone feel sick. This gives you a very safe feeling should something go wrong. Luckily all we did was enjoy ourselves and the amazing views! Would very much recommend to everyone!
