Pigments were obtained from a range of sources such as minerals, vegetation, mollusk shells, and even processed gemstones. Gold and silver were frequently incorporated. Crafting the perfect hues was an elaborate affair, often extending over several weeks. Artists employed brushes of exceptionally fine quality.
