Murchison Falls National Park - Begin your safari at 6:00 am, traveling north from Kampala to Murchison Falls National Park. A friendly and experienced guide will pick you up, provide a trip briefing, and drive you to the park. Stop at Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary to encounter Uganda’s endangered white rhinos. Continue to Murchison Falls National Park and hike to the top of the falls for a breathtaking view of the Nile as it forces through the rocks, creating a stunning scene. Witness the serene Nile dropping through a narrow gorge, falling about 150 feet with a thunderous roar of white water—a truly remarkable sight. After this, enjoy an introductory game drive en route to your lodge. Upon arrival, check in, relax, have dinner, and enjoy an optional campfire.
Early Morning Game Drive and Afternoon Boat Cruise
Murchison Falls National Park - After breakfast, embark on an early morning game drive across the expansive plains of Uganda’s largest National Park. Spanning 3,893 sq km, the park is home to a variety of animals, including lions, giraffes, hartebeest, buffaloes, and elephants. Bird enthusiasts can spot species like the secretary bird and the black-chested snake eagle.
In the afternoon, take a boat trip to the base of Murchison Falls, where the Nile crashes through a narrow 7-meter gap, plunging 43 meters on its way to Lake Albert. The riverbanks are teeming with crocodiles, hippos, and other wildlife that come to drink.
Transfer to Kibale National Park with Enroute Lunch
Kibale National Park - Transfer to Kibale National Park, renowned as the primate capital of East Africa and home to chimpanzees. Kibale Forest hosts 13 primate species, with chimpanzee tracking as the main attraction. Enjoy scenic views and birdlife as you pass through villages, towns, and local markets, with a stop for lunch along the way.
Chimpanzee Trekking Experience & Relaxation at the Lodge
Kibale National Park - After an early breakfast, your guide will take you to the park offices for a briefing on chimpanzee trekking. During the trek, get close to the chimps and capture photos of these fascinating creatures in their natural habitat. The forest is also home to 9 other monkey species, such as the red-tailed monkey and bush babies. In the canopy, spot colorful butterflies and various bird species like the Great blue Turaco, joyful greenbul, olive long-tailed cuckoo, and the superb black bee eater. After the trek, return to your accommodation to relax and prepare for the journey to Bwindi the next morning.
Mini Game Drive and Transfer to Bwindi via Ishasha
Queen Elizabeth National Park - In the morning, enjoy a mini game drive in the Ishasha sector before heading to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. This park is home to half of the world’s mountain gorillas, as well as forest elephants, buffaloes, duikers, chimpanzees, and other monkeys. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is also a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park - After breakfast, gather at the park headquarters for a briefing at 8 am before starting your gorilla trekking adventure. Follow the trails of your assigned gorilla family through the forest’s hilly landscapes and dense undergrowth, which give it the name “Impenetrable.” Maintain a 6-meter distance from the gorillas as you observe them. Note that the trekking duration is unpredictable, depending on the location of the gorilla families, which can be far from the headquarters. The trek typically lasts 2 to 8 hours, including one hour of direct interaction with the gorillas. Witnessing these critically endangered apes as they forage, socialize, and the young gorillas play on tree branches, while the Silverback asserts his authority, is truly awe-inspiring.
Transfer Back to Entebbe
Entebbe - After an early breakfast, check out and begin your journey back to Kampala, passing through rolling hills with terraces and enjoying the lush vegetation along the way. Stop for lunch in Mbarara and visit the Equator for photo opportunities and to purchase crafts and souvenirs. Continue to Entebbe/Kampala, arriving late in the afternoon. Your driver/guide will drop you off at your hotel or the airport, marking the end of your incredible Gorilla, chimpanzee, and wildlife safari experience.
