• Uchisar Castle - Currently located in the town of Uchisar, this castle is the largest rock formation in Cappadocia. It was actively used by villagers until 1970, when part of it collapsed. The government then instructed residents to build their homes elsewhere. The castle was primarily utilized during the Roman Empire, serving as a watchtower for Roman soldiers to monitor for approaching enemies. The name Uchisar comes from “Uc,” meaning summit, and “Hisar,” meaning town or village, indicating it as the highest point in the region.
• Zelve Open Air Museum - Upon entering the museum gates, information will be provided before exploring the churches together. Photography is prohibited inside the churches, and silence is required, which is why explanations are given outside. Visits inside the churches should be brief, about one minute, due to the number of visitors. After visiting two churches, there will be ample time to explore the others independently. Please wait for free time to be announced before wandering off.
• Love Valley - The journey to Love Valley takes approximately 5 minutes. Here, you will see impressive fairy chimneys and have a 10 to 15-minute photo break. The name “Love Valley” doesn’t hold a special meaning, but in the 1980s, couples would visit to enjoy the view with wine, hence the name.
• Devrent Valley - This breathtaking valley features natural rock formations in various recognizable shapes, including the famous camel-shaped rock. Use your imagination to discover other shapes.
• Avanos - In Avanos, visit a genuine family-run pottery workshop situated in an underground cave. The clay from the Kızılırmak (Red) River has been used for pottery since before 1700 BC by the Hittites and remains an art form today. Observe a master potter at work and watch as painters and glazers apply intricate patterns. Try your hand at the potter’s wheel to create your own unique piece if desired.
• Fairy Chimneys - In Paşabağı, also known as Monks Valley due to the Chapel of Saint Simeon, explore the unique clusters of multi-headed mushroom-shaped “fairy chimneys” (rock formations).
