From the bustling streets of Jongno, head towards Anguk Subway Station, and you will come across Jogyesa Temple.
The first thing to catch your eye at the temple will be the beautiful trees. The locust and baeksong trees in front of Daeungjeon, the main temple building, are approximately 500 years old.
- Gwanghwamun Gate - Keep your camera ready for the guard-changing ceremony at Gwanghwamun Gate.
- Gyeongbokgung Palace - After exploring Jogyesa Temple, proceed to Gwanghwamun to witness the Royal Guard Changing Ceremony. This event marks the transition of the royal guards and verifies their identities. Next, head to Gyeongbokgung, the main and most stunning palace of the Joseon Dynasty.
Please note:
- On Tuesdays, Gyeongbokgung Palace is closed, so you will visit Changdeokgung (including the secret garden) instead.
- National Folk Museum of Korea - Within the grounds, explore the National Folk Museum to discover how people in Korea have lived from ancient times to the present. Your guide will show you exhibits that illustrate the daily lives of both the aristocracy and common citizens, including traditional farming, hunting, weaving, cooking, and other activities.
- The Blue House - Cheong Wa Dae is the Presidential House of Korea, housing the Presidential office and residence. It is called the Blue House due to its blue-tiled roof. While entry is not permitted, you will pass by the front road.

Through this excursion, you’ll get the opportunity to explore the city’s Buddhist temple, the Presidential Blue House Square, and the Gyeongbokgung Palace over a span of 3.5 hours, in the company of a small group. Your journey begins at the Jogyesa temple, a symbol of Buddhism in Seoul, and continues past the Cheongwadae, also known as the Presidential Blue House, noted for its distinctive blue tiles. The tour then proceeds to the Gwanghwamun Gate where you’ll witness the changing of the royal guard. Post the ceremony, you’ll wander through the Gyeongbokgung Palace often referred to as the north palace. The tour will conclude at the National Folk Museum, offering a glimpse of Korean life from centuries past.
