• Eishin-in Temple - ① Discover the unique matcha incense crafted in a wooden form and learn the art of burning it (15 minutes). ② Create 6-7 matcha incense pieces (45 minutes).

Participants will receive an incense burner, compact when folded, perfect for enjoying the matcha tea aroma!

This event takes place at Eshin-in Temple, conveniently located just a five-minute walk from Ujibashi Bridge, the heart of Kyoto Uji’s tourist area.

The fragrance is exclusively made from matcha, utilizing recycled fresh Uji matcha that would otherwise be discarded.

This makes an ideal souvenir for your loved ones.

• This is the only incense in the world crafted solely from matcha. It is gently heated to release its fragrance without burning, eliminating concerns about smoke-related health risks.

• The matcha tea used is collected from the machine’s gaps before it is discarded, ensuring freshness. This process supports eco-friendly practices while providing enjoyment.

• Traditional Japanese sweets molds, custom-made for incense, are used. These molds resemble edible pastries, and this is the only incense maker globally utilizing confectionery wood molds.

• A special incense burner, which can be folded into compact pieces, is provided. It can be taken home to enjoy the aroma immediately, making it a wonderful souvenir.

• Participants will create 5-6 incense sticks, choosing from a variety of wooden molds. With many adorable shapes and designs representing Japan’s four seasons, selecting a mold is an exciting experience.

• The clay incense ingredients are soft and have a calming effect on the mind, making it ideal for children who enjoy playing with clay.

• The event takes place at Eshin-in Temple, located in the heart of Kyoto Uji tourism. The garden, maintained by the priest, features many seasonal flowers and offers a beautiful view of Byodo-in Temple across the Uji River.

• The session will be held in a shoe-free room, so infants and small children can relax together.
• You can park one car. If the parking lot is full, please use the nearby paid parking lot.
