Novelty is real. - This was one of a kind experience for me. Every step of the journey had something I have never imagined. Staying from a nomadic style yurt to riding a camel with 2 humps. The sky is unbelievable at night, so vast and clear. The guide had good knowledge about the environment and the lifestyles of the nomads. Wish I can experience this kind of novelty everywhere I went.

Incredible, Authentic Cultural Experience! - We have traveled to over 25 countries and this was easily the most truly authentic cultural experience we've ever had. Simply incredible tour of a gorgeous country. Our amazing guide, Misheelt, and our driver, Misheelt's father, made us feel so welcome and like we were on a family road trip (in the best possible way). Everything was included as described in the itinerary, plus a few bonuses such as a biologist hopping in the van at Hustai to help us find the wild horses (we hiked up a mountain to see a bunch of wild horses and were able to also see the deer) and a bonus horse ride with the nomadic family at Semi-Gobi (horse ride first night, camel ride next morning). We booked this trip because it seemed to include the most important stops in a short time and we left feeling like we had truly experienced the countryside. A few notes for those considering the trip (not negatives in any way for us, just things to be prepared for). There is rarely toilet paper in the countryside stops, so take a travel roll with you and be prepared to throw in the trash (not flush). The overnights in the gers have solar panels for powering minor lighting, but take portable battery chargers to power phones, cameras, etc. on your own. The first overnight stop at Semi-Gobi was with a nomadic family, but we had our own ger. There was no running water, so toilets were in an outhouse and there were no shower facilities. The second overnight stop at Ugii Nuur was more of a tourist camp (still managed by a family, but more gers) - again, we had our own ger. There was a more established bathroom facilities and showering facilities were available at certain times of the day (they had to heat the water). The ger beds were very firm and small, but serviceable. Our guides provided sleeping bags, which helped a lot for comfort and warmth. Again, all of these things were part of the experience for us, just come prepared with the right expectations! Overall, an incredible experience that any true traveler will cherish for a lifetime!

Best Tour I've Had Yet! - My friend and I booked a 4-day tour of Mongolia with Rara Avis which included many of the sites in Central Mongolia. We LOVED it! Our driver and our guide, Heidi, were wonderful, helpful and knowledgeable. We never had to drive more then 2 hours at a time and yet covered a ton of ground. The food was pretty good along the way and we stayed at some of the nicest camps. The stay with the family in Semi-Gobi was definitely a highlight and spotting the wild horses in the national park was another. Highly recommend arranging a tour through Rara Avis - they are accommodating and lovely!
