Before the 15th century, the dominant faith in Mongolia was ‘hoh tenger’ or the great blue sky religion. This ancient belief system, recognized in the western world as Shamanism, proposes that the tangible world is infiltrated with unseen forces or spirits. The Shaman acts as the conduit between the natural world and the spiritual realm, seeking the guidance of the spirits of elements like fire, water, wind, trees, moon etc., for aid in healing processes, hunting or influencing the weather. In contemporary Mongolia, the healers, known as Buu, continue to perform these unique ceremonies. During this special journey, we’ll introduce you to this mystical realm, showing you how the healer invites the spirits into his being, endowing him with the power to cure ailments and foresee the future.
