A great day out to see the island - We had a superb day out with our very knowledgeable and friendly guide, Sandeep. He was flexible and planned the day to arrive at specific places at the best times. A proud Mauritian, he was keen to show us his country and conveyed extensive knowledge on everything from culture to food and wildlife.
Some of the roads in Mauritius are very tight with sharp turns. This can be uncomfortable for people who may suffer from travel sickness.
Overall, we thoroughly recommend this trip, especially if you want to get out of the resort and see Mauritius.
Also, the inclusive lunch at the Chamerel rhumerie is superb. The chicken and prawn curry is very nice.

Exceeded Expectations!! - We booked this trip mainly on the reviews on tripadvisor and we were not disappointed, but it actually exceeded our expectations.
Avi picked us up at our hotel, he explained the itinerary for the day and checked what we would like to see. We set off, stopping at various stops and photo viewpoints along the way.
His knowledge and passion of Mauritius comes across throughout the day, it’s like spending a day with a new friend.
We stopped at Rhumerie De Chamarel for some rum tasting and a 3 course lunch.
So, if finally I can give you some advice, it is to just book a tour with Unwind Mauritius, you will have a fabulous day out taking home many memories of beautiful Mauritius 🇲🇺

A must do at the beginning of your trip! - Our day with Avi and Jaya was amazing! If you’re coming to Mauritius, do yourself a favor and book a tour with them on your first full day. He is effortlessly knowledgeable about everything Mauritius. He started the day by understanding what our groups interests were. He then came up with a tour that would hit the things we would be most interested in. Also plan to leave a couple days of your trip open because Avi was able to help us plan the rest of our days to make sure we were maximizing our time. I can’t recommended Avi and his tours enough!!

Recommend everyone to go on this trip! You get to see and experience so many places in one day. This is a tour for all! - We had an amazing trip with our amazing guide, Avi! We ate street food which was a delight and recommend everyone to taste. The shipbuilding factory was one of the highlights including seven coloured sands and Chamarel distillery.

South West visit to Mauritius Island - We enjoyed a whole day all inclusive outing to South West of Mauritius Island. We were met by our most amicable guide for the day a real knowledgeable polyglot and the taxi driver equally talented linguist and safe driver! We enjoyed the day fully packed sight seeing. First we visited a shop that sold many varieties of different flavoured Rums even a bottle with a dodo within! It was a pleasant rum tasting experience. This shop was very elegant well stocked with local merchandise most tempting unusual cushion covers with dodos long since sadly extinct! Scarves, t shirts, dresses, shorts, shirts, swimwear, nik naks and more. We then visited the Hindu Temple Ganga Talau with Nandi Bull and other impressive Deity Statues as well as the sacred lake with waters from the Ganges River. We received the blessing on the forehead as well as the red cotton thread blessing from the Sanyasi . Within the Temple we received another blessing on the forehead Tilak. The hoot of this visit for me was seeing the several cats watching fish swimming tantalisingly close to them so cute! The next visit was to the amazing model boat making factory in which local artisans displayed their craft of so many varieties of vessels all accurately created in varying model sizes. Our guide and some workers were amazed and delighted as we were too on seeing the Amerigo Vespucci model and our photos of us having actually been invited to visit this very same life size training Clipper. This was followed by a tea tasting we felt so honoured as the Late Queen Elizabeth II had done amongst other famous world leaders. Suitably refreshed after delicious leaf tea tasting we headed for the lunch at the Avalon Golf Course. This was a real treat a served lunch Nouvelle Cuisine Style but with generous portions and artistically very beautifully presented. Earlier we had visited the Trou aux Cerfs extinct Volcano 2 million year old crater which we viewed in safety from a viewing platform .We then visited the Three Gorges National Park with the double waterfall, the 7 coloured earth, the pond with the congregation of giant turtles some seemingly burying their heads in the earth ready for hibernation maybe. The day ended with a welcome visit to a rum factory and more rum tasting most deliciously flavoured Rums also a new departure of various rum flavoured jams. Then a long drive back to our Hotel feeling tired, happy and relaxed as we drove through beautiful scenery mountainous planes, fields of cane sugar, tea plantations, and more.

Disappointing long day- half the sights not seen. - This what not quite the trip we were promised. We only got to see half the sights we were promised. Ravi our driver was not that experienced ( he told me that this was his fourth trip). The car was not what we would call a SUV. When we got in the car the middle seat belt was missing , it took 10 minutes or so to rectify it. We also had to stop and sit in the car whilst our driver got water ( surely this should be in a cool box and in the car already). Communication was poor- Ravi drove past one of the sights we were meant to see and said we would see it on the way back. During lunch our driver ordered a Pina Colada - a driver drinking alcohol! On the way back it was far too dark to go and see the waterfall and another sight. On the way back to the hotel ( over a 2 hour drive) Ravi got lost twice and took us to the wrong hotel.
We did see some of the sights and Ravi did take us to other sights as the road was shut to the lighthouse ( this should have been told to us prior to the booking I thought).
We were very disappointed- not the experience we were expecting or promised.
