Highlights
  • Clava Cairns - Stones that date back around 4000 years (yes 4000) thats older than the pyramids… Touch the biggest one… thats what Claire did! I dare you :)
  • Culloden Battlefield - This is where series one ends… the Battle of Culloden, see the wee hoose Claire turns into a wee makeshift hospital then the lads use it to hide out. A solemn place, the last battle fought between Scots, Clans, English and even some Irish
  • Loch Ness - Here you will also get fabulous views of Loch Ness and have a chance to go down to it’s banks in the hope of seeing the ‘Water horse’ which so entranced Claire Randall (or Nessie, as she’s better known around these parts!)
  • Great Glen Distillery - At this stop we will be taking some time to taste this award winning Gin.Taking its name from the fault line that divides the Highlands, our distillery sources natural and local ingredients to give you a little taste of our majestic surroundings.
Great Glen is both Scotland’s newest and, proudly, its smallest craft distillery. Harnessing the elements of a wild place, this smooth, earthy gin is a love letter to nature.
  • Urquhart Castle - Urquhart Castle is probably one of the most photographed castles in Scotland, dating from around the 13th Century (But has settlement finds on the site dating back to prehistoric times.) It’s position on the Loch provides the perfect backdrop for viewing and photographing Loch Ness (with or without the monster).
  • Beauly Priory - The Beautiful village of Beauly was where Claire and Jamie were heading to early in season one.
Beauly Priory was a Valliscaulian monastic community located at “Insula de Achenbady”, now Beauly, Inverness-shire. It was probably founded around 1230. It is not known for certain who the founder was, different sources giving Alexander II of Scotland or John Byset.

Excellent! - This was such a wonderful tour. Our tour guide was friendly and very knowledgeable. We were on a smaller can with our family or 4 and one other couple. It was the perfect mix between driving around and time to explore. Our tour guide made small adjustments based on our interests. I would highly recommend!

Excellent tour - This was the best tour! Sarah was so nice and had so much knowledge of the history of Scotland. We loved seeing the outlander sites and hearing about all of the stories about outlander compared to real Scotland history. The castle and the surrounding area was beautiful! Sarah was the best tour guide and we really enjoyed our day with her.

Invergordon - I can’t say enough about this wonderful excursion! Our tour guide went out of his way to make sure we saw everything that we were wanting to see and more! I personally wanted to see a Coo and he stopped at a farm so I could see some and stopped at any overlook that we wanted to stop at to take pictures! He was very knowledgeable and gave us a history related to our stops on the tour!

George Sr. - Vacation Dream Come True - My husband, teenage son and I had the best tour experience and it was all thanks to our guide George Sr. What a wonderful treat to have such a sweet, knowledgeable man tour our family (+ another couple) all over the Scottish Highlands. Thank you so much for stopping at the Coos and enduring my crazy obsession of them. This experience could not have been any better.... well maybe hope for no rain at the battlefield.

Feel like family in the Scottish Highlands - By far the best tour I’ve ever been on. Our guide, Sarah, was absolutely wonderful, very engaging, and knowledgeable of the Scottish Highlands. Her local knowledge of all the sites we visited made us feel like we were family visiting from the USA. The banter with her dad, owner of the tour company and who was hosting another group in a different van, was sweet and again played into feeling like we were family. The Clava Cairns surpassed my imagination with all the stories that were shared about its history and the mysteries behind it. My mom who is an avid Jaime & Claire fan from the TV show, loved hearing from Sarah how true to the cultures and histories the author was to honoring the Scottish Highlands. The war museum was interesting and I appreciated reading about the two sides of the war, the British & the Jackobites (spelling?). Similarly the castle on the banks of Loch Ness was incredible. Do be prepared to pay for the entrance fees to both museums. It’s worth the 10 pounds. By the time our tour ended, our entire group were sad to leave and planning to come back to spend more time in the Highlands. I should mention we were on a cruise and it was super easy to locate Go Highlands tour group as we departed our ship. Also the small caravan that holds 8, was a brilliant change from the larger tours we’ve done as part of our cruise. I HIGHLY recommend Go Highlands and this tour through the area when your travels bring you to this glorious country and area. When you do, please send my love to Sarah and her family!
