Cave Okinawa, locally known as “Nuchishinujigama,” is a culturally significant site celebrated as a revered “power spot” for its association with good fortune. The name originates from two historical events: one during the Ryukyu period when the prince of Nakijin Castle found refuge after a battle, and another during the Battle of Okinawa when approximately 300 residents sought sanctuary in the cave, with no lives lost. The cave is notable for its symbolic and rare “red and white” stalactite, considered auspicious as it was the birthplace of two children during the battle. Other features include the “Golden Rocks,” linked to good luck in gold, “Sparkling Rocks,” and “Countless Icicle Stone.” The cave also boasts the popular “Heart Rock” and has been renovated since February 2018, offering a 30-minute immersive experience with updated lighting and passage facilities, making it a captivating destination for sightseeing and exploration in Okinawa.
