We welcome everyone to try their hand at catching a fish through the ice! This is a fun all age, hands on activity. Once you complete a quick check-in, the guide will give you a simple demonstration on the best techniques to successfully catch a fish during your adventure. We do encourage Catch and Release, this gives us and the next clients the opportunity at more and bigger fish, however your guide will cook the fish for you upon request. We fish for multiple different species throughout the Interior including Salmon, Rainbow Trout, Arctic Grayling, Burbot, Pike and Whitefish. While in the cabin there will be hot drinks available (hot cocoa/tea). Once booked we will send you the lake location for your tour.
We also have the option to Pick up & Drop off at hotels for an additional fee, however, you must contact us to check the current availability.

Olnes Pond is located at 10.5 mile Elliot highway at the Olnes Pond Campground.

Ice fishing fun! - We had a great time ice fishing! Our guide Jake was very knowledgeable and helpful! We stayed warm in the hut!
In addition to the fun, we learned a ton about the history of the area - something beyond what we could read or explore. Jake made this a huge part of our first trip to Alaska.

Highly recommend fishing with Jake - Jake did a fantastic job finding where the fish were biting. He was determined to help catch a fish. He drilled about a dozen different holes so we could test different areas. Eventually I landed a nice sized rainbow trout. The whole experience was awesome. I highly recommend booking with Jake. His commitment to his guests positive experience is 10/10

Great experience ice fishing with Jake - Jake Barrette was our guide for this experience. Everything (tent, chairs, heaters, drilled holes, and fishing equipment) was prepared by the time we arrived at the location. Jake gave us a quick tutorial before we started and let us take turns using his fish finder for a different experience. He has lots of stories to share about living in Alaska and shares some pretty sick videos of the aurora. Overall would highly recommend going ice fishing with Jake.

It was the best experience ever. - I had an ice fishing tour with Jake B. He was the best guide! He was very friendly, patient, and a good teacher on how to get the fish on the actual hook. I was able to catch two fish. Jake was knowledgeable about the local area and fish! I couldn't have asked for a better guide. I would book again. I recommend 10/10.

Do it! - I was looking for something new to do and came upon ice fishing. I've been to Fairbanks several times so I've done a lot but hadn't done this. I'm so glad I did. It's one of my favorite activities to date. Jake communicated well in advance and sent a pin that took me to the precise location (I was driving myself). The conversation was fun and I had a blast! The actual fishing was really cool and Jake showed me how the different gear works since I'm a noob. I almost caught a fish but even though it got away it was still a wonderful experience. The scenery on the pond can't be beat. On top of that, Jake stepped in to help in case my car was stuck as I feared! He also gave great food recommendations and was very knowledgeable about the area and fishing and outdoor activities in general.

Did not get what I paid for - We got lost trying to find the meeting point. The address provided only put us in the area. We were late getting onto the lake but that wasn’t taken into consideration. The guide seemed to be rushing us off We didn’t get 3 hours of fishing and we were not offered hot beverages. Ice fishing was on my bucket list. I hope to experience it again but I will not be doing it with this company. I went from the reviews I read when I made my choice but unfortunately our experience didn’t line up with others. I understand things can happen but tour companies and guides need to realize people pay high prices and travel great distances to have once in a lifetime experiences. It was very disappointing and not worth traveling 4200 miles for.

Tourist unfriendly tour - They are NOT good at communicating. All tourist like us need hassle free tours. Their page said contact them if we need to arrange pick up from hotel. So I did. Didn’t get back to me 3 whole days until a day before, said that the page says to call. No, it says contact us. Then a guy I talked said that he’s just a tour guide so he couldn’t arrange the pick up. I asked him to have someone who can help asap. Nothing for a while then they sent us the meeting location. I responded right away said I need ride. They said schedule uber because it’s cheaper. I’m not sure if we can get uber back from the tour location, which is a lake, they said it’s not their responsibility that I have a ride back or not. Dang! Who wanna go anywhere that is not sure if can come back or not. And the place is out of the way from the city and freezing cold. So I said I wanna cancel. Now it’s less than 24 hours to the tour time…. They didn’t get back to me about it too. You know what, just keep my $$$. Merry Christmas to this tour company!!
PS: they have you to get fishing license by your own as well.

Owner does not care about the service, go elsewhere - I missed the time of booking by accident, so I called the guide afterward in the same day hoping to reschedule, the guide told me to wait for a call from his boss and call never came. The owner didn't even bother to communicate and the guide hung up my call later.
I would have been content with at the very least a courteous exchange even if a reschedule is not possible, but so far it feels like the owner doesn't even care customer service as long as the dollar comes to their account. The guide even said to me "we are most likely done with you" in a very hostile voice when I asked if a reschedule is possible. And that was on my first call with this experience, thank god I didnt go since I would not want to be anywhere near this guy on my trip.
On the service itself, other fishing experiences include grilling the fish you caught and this one doesn't for about the same price. I would recommend avoiding this place and find a more reputable ice fishing service elsewhere.
