Above and beyond - This tour was exactly what we wanted! Legacy Tours was kind enough to arrange a tour for our group of ten. Miranda was a wonderful guide! She even followed up with questions that we had. I cannot recommend this tour (and Miranda) enough.

Ask for Miranda! - Miranda was amazing! We had a group of 10 women from Las Vegas and she was able to keep us 100% interested the entire tour. She is passionate about her craft in story telling and really was able to make connections to our Vegas history. Thank you Miranda for spending the morning with us!

Great! - We had Kevin as a tour guide! We give him a rating of 5, which is the highest rating. He was very informative about the going ons in Newport,Ky back in the day. He has a great sense of humor. Hearing about legendaries like Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin made it more interesting. I would recommend this tour.

The Original Sin City - Newport, Kentucky was the original “Sin City,” thanks to the long history of mobsters in the town. One of the best ways to discover some of that history is the “Gangster Tour,” a 90-minute walking trip around some of the famous and infamous one-time gangster hangouts. Our tour guide was Kevin, and he did a marvelous job of explaining the basics of how Newport became so closely tied to the mob. Along the way, he stopped us at the Thompson House (one-time residence of “Tommy gun” inventor General John T. Thompson) and the former sites of casinos such as the 633 Flamingo and the Yorkshire. Tales of murder, revenge, and strong-arming highlighted many of the stops. Near the end, the story of how former NFL player George Ratterman was framed and quickly exonerated was told. Ratterman became sheriff and, between his desire to clean up Newport and the rise in popularity or Las Vegas, Newport’s gangster era ended. The tour is rain or shine. It was warm but not unbearably hot on the day of our tour. Kevin was kind enough to ensure we all had shade to stand in at every stop. Do wear comfortable shoes. If you are interested in these stories, the tour is not to be missed.
