Additional Information

The French Quarter is a must-visit destination for anyone looking to experience the charm and culture of New Orleans. From its vibrant nightlife to its rich history, this iconic neighborhood has something for everyone. Famous for its beads and beers on Bourbon Street, the Vieux Carre’s reality far surpasses its Mardi Gras reputation.

We’ll show you the real French Quarter beyond Bourbon Street, but we can’t NOT talk about Mardi Gras! Our tour ends at the Presbytere for those who wish to delve deeper into its exhibits for the history and meaning of Mardi Gras and how the city overcame Hurricane Katrina to keep celebrating this centuries-old tradition.

Marvel at the stunning architecture of the St. Louis Cathedral, one of the oldest cathedrals in the United States. Wander down Pirate Alley, a narrow way with tales of pirate lore. See homes of literary legends Tennessee Williams and William Faulkner. No tour of the French Quarter would be complete without a stroll down Bourbon Street.

Awesome history tour! - My brother and I loved the tour! Daniel was super knowledgeable, very nice, and a great teacher. We learned all about the history of the area and New Orleans. I particularly liked the history about Jean Lafitte and how he ended up working with Andrew Jackson. Daniel really made history come alive! I would highly recommend this tour to anyone.

Wonderful Tours with Sandy and Daniel - We booked three tours with Tours by Foot: The French Quarter, Treme and the Garden District. Our guides were Sandy (for the first two) and Daniel (for the latter). We were very impressed with both guides! Both had a great way of giving a broad historical view of these neighborhoods while simultaneously weaving intricate and lesser known stories into their presentations. I have to say quite artfully at that. It was truly engrossing. This made these tours, in my mind, stand out! My husband, baby (!) and I had a great time - and will remember these tours and all we learned for the foreseeable future. I have to admit, my husband doesn't like tours and he ended up thanking me for these! Really great guides! Thanks for a great service. Alexandra Bledsoe

Jam packed tour! - The time flew by on this tour. In an hour and a half we learned, we felt, almost all there is to know about the French Quarter. We were able to make educated decisions on where we ate and what music we listened to. We're glad we marked some off of our list that wouldn't have been good. We felt like we could have walked with a guide as our friend for hours around New Orleans. Tours By Foot is the way to go.

Great French Quarter tour - The guide on this tour was exceptional. They provided historical context in a way that drew everything into the present in New Orleans. We felt that the credible information given was entertaining and able to be understood by all in our group, including the children. Their food recommendations were on point. The Presbytere tickets were also helpful as a rainy day activity.

Andrew S taught us so much! - Andrew with an S met us at the Statue of Andrew Jackson in the square. We immediately got the abbreviated history of the colony of Louisiana and New Orleans. From then on the tour was jam-packed with information from 1718 to today. We were pleasantly surprised to get Presbytere tickets. The Mardi Gras exhibit upstairs was a great time for our kids, and we all beat the heat!

Hidden Gems of the French Quarter - We learned so much more than we ever have on our own walking around the Quarter. We had a small group so the guide was able to customize the tour to our interests. She showed us some secret courtyards, and gardens. We were interested in Speakeasy’s and they knew how to get the password. The Presbytere tickets were an added bonus as we were able to teach the kids about hurricanes at the Katrina exhibit.

Fun Tour Enjoyed a lot - Excellent morning spent in this historic French Quarter. Our guide also walked us upto the Presbytere which we really enjoyed seeing on our own at the end of the tour. In the evening on the same day we ended up booking the Ghost tour of this neighborhood with the same company, different guide, who was also super entertaining.
