Breathtaking - Best kayaking I’ve done! The instructor was so helpful! The views were breathtaking. Already planning a trip back!

Attempted but water was too rough - Didn't get to go out do to choppy weather. Instructor really nice and helpful, and gave me a choice to try to go out. I attempted and couldn't get anywhere. So he said he would issue refund.

Very beautiful experience - The water was so beautiful! I love kayaking and even more when the kayak is clear giving you a view of the beautiful water. The guide I talk to was so helpful and nice ! 10/10 will definitely be doing again!

A great afternoon in a beautiful spot! - Had some friends in from out of town and tried Clear Water Kayaks in Elk Lake. The owner, Brian, was super helpful and went out of his way to communicate with us. We had a fun day and the location was beautiful. Upon completing our rental Brian met us as promised and even stayed around to jump my car went it wouldn't start. I admire Brian's extra effort as an entrepreneur and business owner. I highly recommend Clear Water Kayaks.

Unforgettable experience! - I will never stop recommending Clear Water Kayaks! There is no better way to see the clearest lake in Michigan. The kayaks are easy to maneuver and have plenty of space for your cooler or dry bag. The launch is right in front of the amazing Torch Lake sandbar, where you can paddle right to the shallowest part and wade in the warm, clear water. The kayaks can be rented by 2-8 hour time slots, or an entire weekend. The online booking process is extremely easy to use as well. Brian will make sure you have the most amazing time, even if Mother Nature rains on your parade. He kept us updated and worked diligently with us to find an alternative date when the forecasted weather took a turn. We will continue to use Clear Water Kayaks for years to come! Always an unforgettable experience!

Perfect place at the right time! - I had read there were not many places to swim for public access. We had a camper and this was a quick hopeful stop to see the pretty lake everyone talks about. it's the Carribean of the North and it does hold up. I had read: If you want to hit the sandbar without a boat, wear your swimsuit and park on the shoulder of Crystal Beach Road just north of Torch River Marine (12906 Cherry Ave., Rapid City) and the bridge over Torch River. There's a pocket park with a patch of sand; walk from the shore to the sandbar in chest-deep water. Thankfully, we were able to park in the lot across from the realty office and we put our suits on. I had bought tubes to inflate in hopes of floating out instead of walking, but when we got there we realized it wasn't allowed to swim in that area (it's a launch). Thankfully, Clear water Rentals had a few kayaks and we asked if they rented by the hour, they did. We were able to get two (our family of 5 fit just fine with my kids being 16, 13, and 11). The coolest part is that they were clear kayaks, so we paddled out and were able to hang out on the sand bar. It was overcast, but still beautiful and very clear water! We were thankful this company was there at the right time, or we wouldn't have been able to do our quick stop!

A unique kayaking experience! - Kayaking in a clear-bottomed kayak was pretty unique, especially with such clear water in the bay. The novelty wore off after a while, and with polarized sun glasses, I could see in the water as well as through the bottom of the kayak. The scenery was beautiful and the lake was very calm. One issue my wife and I both had was paddling while sitting on the bottom of the kayak. We’re used to kayaks with seats on top of the kayak so we weren’t used to having to raise our arms over the side to paddle. We got tired from having to hold our arms up more than actually paddling. There was a scheduling problem with our reservation through Trip Advisor, but Clear Water Kayaks did a great job of taking care of the problem.

Great experience (if they wouldn’t have canceled), unprofessional and lacks communication skills. - Well… I had been looking forward to doing this for months! However I don’t think I will ever use these people again (even if they have cool clear bottom kayaks) They canceled on us with no clear reasoning, other than lack of time management. The time you choose means nothing to the people that run this. My boyfriend and I were supposed to go at 2pm and they text me telling me they messed it up and to come back at 4pm. We go there and wait and they text Me 15 minutes before saying “oh we are running late, 30 minutes.” That’s fine and we wait. 25 minutes later we are still waiting and I check my email out of boredom and I see that they canceled our experience without even texting me before hand. They tried to make it up by saying we could go for free tomorrow but we are on a tight schedule and are gone tomorrow.

Meeting spot was incorrect on TripAdvisor ticket - Either the booking didn’t go through properly or the location given on the reservation ticket for the meet up was wrong no one was there and we didn’t end up even kayaking.
