Excellent walking tour! - We had just arrived in The Netherlands from a direct flight from the United States. We dropped off our luggage at the boutique hotel and found our way to the Dom Tower( very easy to see in the old city center). We saw the woman with the Free Walking Tour umbrella and introduced ourselves. There were two other people on our tour a man living and working in Utrecht and his dad visiting from Australia. The five of us had a wonderful time learning all about the history of Utrecht from our guide as we walked around the beautiful old city. Our guide grew up in Utrecht and her love of the city came through in all the little stories she shared with us. She also gave us recommendations of a couple shops to find the best gifts of Utrecht and some places to eat. We saw her the next day when we were getting ready for our bicycle tour of windmills and said hi. We would definitely recommend this tour (it is free and we just gave our guide a tip afterwards). It is the best way to meet locals, learn about the area where you visiting, and meet other travelers. Great to do on your first day there!

Excellent Recognition of City’s Deceased Homeless: Tree in Convent Courtyard - The following day I excitedly took my own daughter (international student at Utrecht) and local Dutch friends to point out the hidden landmarks - and the stories behind them - which I suspected they didn’t (and they didn’t) know: like this easily overlooked tree in a convent courtyard honoring the otherwise overlooked homeless who’ve died here in the last 10 years. The shiny dog tags in the almost naked branches bear the names of individuals shown respect because at least one local read the prayer on a nearby plaque and hung their tag for us to acknowledge our shared humanity. What inspiration for sister cities worldwide!

Great tour with Ruud - Ruud was an amazing guide. With humour and detail he told us the story of Utrecht. The walk was not too long, Ruud chose many different spots, all within the center of Utrecht. We’ve learned a lot. Thank you Ruud!!

Good overview - It was a good, basic historical tour of Utrecht . My favorite part was walking along the canals and getting to see the inside of a house and the room that connects to the canal .

Excellent experience with Jeffrey - Jeffrey was our Guide on the 2 hrs tour in Utrecht and it was a very enjoyable tour, Jeffrey has a lot of charisma, which made the whole tour something very entertaining, he told us about the stories of the city and we toured the most important places. If you are coming to the city for 1 or 2 days you definitely have to take this tour and know quickly about the most important things about the city.

Awesome tour of Utrecht! - $10 USD for our family of 3 seemed like a great deal and it was! We had Bart on a Saturday which was lucky for us as he is a high school teacher during the week. He had the right amount of history, comedy and chatter, something that our next tour guide in Bruges did not have so I appreciate it all the more. Utrecht was such a nice place to visit during our trip in Amsterdam and we are so glad to have done this tour. Given the price, we tipped Bart a good amount as he was very much worth it!
