India’s oldest national park, Jim Corbett National Park, was founded in 1936 initially as Hailey National Park with the main aim of preserving the threatened Bengal tiger. Situated in Uttarakhand’s Nainital district, it received its current name in honor of Jim Corbett, who was instrumental in setting it up. It was the inaugural park of the Project Tiger scheme. Being a popular spot among wildlife enthusiasts and tourists, Corbett has limited regions of the Corbett Tiger Reserve open for tourist activities, providing them a chance to experience its natural scenery and wildlife diversity. The park has witnessed a surge in visitor numbers in recent years, with over 70,000 people visiting each season.
Famously recognized for its tiger population, Jim Corbett National Park provides forest safaris for an up-close interaction with both wildlife and vegetation. The extensive reserve is recognized for its unique variety of flora and fauna that coexists peacefully.
