Experience in the salt flat of Uyuni. - We were received at the terminal of Uyuni, we were placed in the agency, we left in time for the salty, lunch, accommodation, dinner all very good The guide super quiet, took some pictures of luxury. The next very punctual day we were picked up after breakfast and headed towards the desert where we were taken to visit some spectacular places, photos, information about the places, very rich lunch and from there we arrived at a super comfortable accommodation, dinner, we went out to see stars and then to rest. The super recommended tour.

Lack of communication and organisation from tour operators - Salty Desert Aventours, 29th - 31st of March 2025. This is an okay option for your Uyuni Salt Flats tour. We saw the beautiful Salt Flats, some amazing scenes in the desert and made some memories with lovely people. However the tour operators leave a lot to be desired. There were several issues that eventually led to frustration with the tour operators. We arrived in Uyuni to be greeted by Diego in the tour company office who initially seemed genuine but once he receives payment for the tour he doesn’t seem to want to answer any questions- he watched several people try to access the wifi (QR code was not working) and continued sitting on his phone watching loud videos. On our last night of the tour, our English speaking tour guide, Beto, (originally we were told that our tour guide was going to be Miguel so not sure) informed us that we needed to fill in an online form for exiting Bolivia as we were being dropped off at the Chilean border. We were in a hostel in the middle of the desert so it is understandable that wifi is limited- Beto then blamed us for not paying for wifi access earlier in the day. If they put up a sign in their office in Uyuni informing people that it is a requirement to fill in this online form then it would make more sense. Maybe Diego could even help people to access the WiFi. Another issue we experienced was the allocation of rooms in the accommodation. One member of our group was forced to pay for a private room while Beto gave private rooms free of charge to those tour members who travelled in his jeep- those who complained several times were given the best rooms while those of us not in Beto’s car were left to share rooms. This preferential treatment for those in his car was quite unfair. The most concerning issue was the overloading of vehicles and lack of working seatbelts- on the journey to Chile our vehicle was overloaded and when we mentioned this to Beto he dismissed our concerns as it was “only a 45 minute journey to the border” and he had to drive back to Uyuni so it would add extra time to his journey if he had to drive to the Chilean border. Luckily our driver, Gilberto, was quite safe and did check often that we were all doing okay. The food on this tour was average- some decent meals while some of the meals were quite poor. Overall this tour was decent- I understand that some issues are out of the tour operators control but they could find better solutions rather than doing things to suit themselves. Our tour guide chose to leave out different stops as it suited his schedule. If they could be a bit more organised and communicate better then this tour might get 4 stars.
