Highlights

Uyuni - Train Cemetery - Refinery - Incahuasi Island - Salt Hotel

Train Cemetery - Guests will be picked up from their accommodations in Uyuni at approximately 10:30 a.m. The first stop is just outside the city at the Train Cemetery. A short drive from the city limits reveals an array of abandoned locomotives, creating a unique and fascinating landscape.

Colchani - The next destination is Colchani Village. Here, visitors will explore the Salt Museum and the Salt Refinery to learn about the extraction and refinement process. The visit concludes with a stop at local artisan shops for souvenirs, rounding out the charming village experience.

Salar de Uyuni - 12:00 p.m. - At noon, the group will enter the Salt Desert, visiting the salt mounds, the “Ojos del Salar” (small holes in the ground revealing water below), and the intriguing Playa Blanca Museum, constructed entirely from salt blocks from the Uyuni Salt Flats.

Isla Incahuasi - 1:00 p.m. - The journey continues to Incahuasi Island, home to a unique variety of giant cacti. The island’s elevation offers one of the best vantage points to appreciate the stunning landscape. Guests are encouraged to take plenty of photos from this unique perspective of the Uyuni Salt Flats. After a short walk, lunch will be enjoyed on the white plains before continuing the adventure.

Uyuni - Around 7:00 p.m., the group will arrive at the Salt Hostel. En route, there will be an opportunity to enjoy the serene beauty of a sunset over the Salt Flats. Upon arrival at the hostel, dinner will be served, and guests will settle in for the night.

San Juan - Eduardo Avaroa Park - Siloli Desert - Laguna Colorada

Laguna Canapa - 7:00 a.m. - Day two begins with an early breakfast before departing for the renowned Colorada Lagoon, one of the largest and most picturesque lagoons. En route, the group will pass through the Chiguana Salt Flats and stop at the Ollague Volcano Viewpoint for panoramic views. Visits to the Cañapa, Hedionda, Hona, and Ramadita Lagoons, also known as the altiplanic or colored lagoons, will follow.

Eduardo Avaroa National Reserve of Andean Fauna - 9:00 a.m. - After passing through the Siloli Desert, the group will reach the Eduardo Avaroa National Park. Situated over 16,404 feet (5,000 meters) above sea level, the park offers views of stunning volcanic landscapes in various colors. A highlight is the famous stone tree, with a stop for a meal along the way.

Laguna Colorada - 6:00 p.m. - The final destination of the day is the Colorada Lagoon, home to three different species of flamingos. Guests will have about 20 minutes of free time to explore the lagoon and observe the diverse wildlife. The day concludes with accommodations near the lagoon, providing an opportunity to unwind and explore until nightfall. Dinner will be served before retiring to shared dorms (six beds) or a private room (available upon booking). Please note that the second-day accommodations are quite modest.

Sol de la Mañana - Hot Springs - Salvador Dalí Desert - Laguna Verde - Uyuni

Geiser Sol de la Mañana - 4:30 a.m. - An early start is necessary to visit the “Sol de La Mañana” Geyser Field, as geysers are more active in the early morning. This is also true for fumaroles and small craters with volcanic lava.

Uyuni - On the return journey to Uyuni, the group will make several stops, including the Black Lagoon, the Valley of Rocks, and the San Cristobal Village Church. Arrival in Uyuni is expected around 5:00 p.m., marking the end of an incredible Uyuni Salt Flats Tour experience.

Great service. Good value for money - Very good agency - they provided excellent support and the tour we bought was organised by another excellent agency as well. Very fair value for money and honest. Exactly what you need when you look to visit these unique places. Totally recommended

Excellent 3 day tour - Excellent tour. Very reliable organization. Fast to respond. I have always wanted to come see the Uyuni salt flats, so I wanted a for sure great experience here. Howlanders did not disappoint. I did the 3 day tour, and it was fantastic. My tour guides "Alberto" and "Placido" were friendly, more than willing to take as many photos as we wanted, and made sure we were taken care of. Book Uyuni Salt Flats with them!!!

Trustworthy. Great experience. - It's quite difficult at the moment to find a good and reliable tour company that doesn't charge you a very high price. Due to the lack of tourists at the moment, the only longer tours you can get in Uyuni are private and most agencies we contacted via online and WhatsApp didn't respond or didn't want to negotiate. Skyline Traveller were quick to respond, they were accommodating, the price was very reasonable and the service was excellent. We were supposed to go as part of a group, however it didn't happen and we ended up going just the two of us which was perfect, a private tour!! We did the 3 day tour to Salar and parque Nacional Eduardo Avaroa. We visited the train cemetery, Salar, a few small lagunas on the way, Laguna Colorada, geisers, hot springs, laguna negra (instead of laguna verde as we heard the water is not green anymore but white), we saw hundreds of flamingos in most of he lagunas. Stunning scenery. It was a beautifil trip and worth every penny. Rigo, our guide was young but very professional. He is fun, knowledgeable, responsible and just an excellent guide. We are mostly vegetarians and he arranged and made sure we got what we wanted or needed. He was very accommodating. The food was great, the accommodations on the way are basic but comfortable and perfect for the night. After all, you go for the adventure and experience. If you are looking for a reliable and honest tour agency in Uyuni, get in touch with Howlanders and they'll arrange the tour tgat suits you. I definitely recomend going with Rigo as your guide

Terribly organised and incompetent guides - As incredible as it was to visit the different sites of Salar de Uyuni the 3 days was so poorly organised. If I could do the trip again, I would absolutely not book with Howlanders. Our guide was absolutely terrible, he essentially just drove us from place to place with zero information on anything, I mean ZERO! We never knew what the plan was and when we asked he responded with a joke and never gave us a straight answer. This was super frustrating when we were exhausted after the day, freezing and hungry. We felt really rushed at every stop and had on average 15 - 30 minutes to enjoy each place. Granted we got some fantastic pictures and footage at the Salt Flats but that’s the only element that was worth the money tbh. The guide clearly didn’t have a clue what he was doing and completely messed up the last day where we rushed through all of the stops, my friend and I nearly missed our bus to Chile due to his incompetence. I get the impression that these ‘guides’ are paid peanuts and do the absolute bare minimum as a result. When we arrived to Chile we were dropped off with the bus driver refusing to leave us at our accommodation. We paid 130 BOBs for this bus and were expected to just find our own way to our accommodation. After much insistence from us he left us off in the end. If you want to actually learn something about this area and take your time to enjoy the different sites I would book with a different tour company!

Book with another company - I booked a tour with Howlanders and it was operated by Skyline Traveler. The Salt flats are absolutelly amaizing and a must see.If visiting again, will definatelly book with different company . To start with , Skyline Taveler did not collect me from the bus station upon my arrivial from La Paz as comunicated in our whatapp corresponndence . I had to ring them myself and remind them. The first day of the tour was super nice as we visited the Salt flats. We ended up not seeing the refletion effect due to our gide and drivers not really beeing organised. On the second day, we were told breakfast is at 6, and 6:30 we are leaving the accomodation . Our drivers and tour gide were no where to be found as they overslept and it was people from the grop that had to go and wake them up . We did not leave the accomodation till 8:30. When asked if we can head to the flats to see the reflection the guide refused saying that will cost extra. In general the second day was a lot of stops not that nice and everything was dragged with a lunch break over an hour and half . The third day again, we left few hours after the agreed time for departure . I was continuing to Chile . I was droped off to catch my bus , at 10 sharp , as the bus was waithing for me . The sites I was soposed to visit on day 3 were all rushed and the guide was not at all serious taking theit time literally doing nothing and I ended up woring about missing my bus to Chille . Over all really unprofessional company starting from pick up ,to drivers/ guides . U are better off booking with someone else
