Stunning tour of the Salar de Uyuni - This was a once in a lifetime experience, I feel like we have just visited the 8th wonder of the world. The sights are breathtaking, the fauna and flora are unlike anything I’ve seen anywhere, llamas, vicuñas, flamingos, ostriches, you will see things you’ve never seen before. The star of the tour for us was the visit to the Salar de Uyuni, the mirror effect of the water in the salt ground which reflects the majestic landscape is something to see in one’s life. Jour tour guide and 4x4 chauffeur , Jose Luis was excellent. He told us the right info at the right time and stood back when needed. He took amazing pictures of us. He was kind, and happy to do what we wanted. Equally he was great advice on what to see and pay attention to. I’ve read blogs where people complain that you have to pay for everything (loos, water, park entrances). But honestly what do people think? That places like this maintain themselves? No they don’t, not with the tourist trade they get, so it’s perfectly ok to pay very modest sums to help with the upkeep of this stunning environment. The tour was so efficiently organised. We opted for the basic ‘hostales’ option, and yes, it was basic but in keeping with the locale. The food was great - again, not Michelin star, but exactly what you need when you’re visiting all day!

Worthy just check everything out - the tour was great! I would definitely recommend it. Just couple of things that nobody told me when I booked the tour. I asked a lot of agencies in San Pedro and here we go: most of them do the same tour (they stop in the same places, make sure they give you a paper with all the stops so you can check everything out), never mind what they tell you, DO NOT pay extra for hot water in advance because you will need to pay at the hostels as well ( none of the agencies include hot water for your shower). In my opinion, I would definitely book the cheapest one as I said before, they all do the same.

Good but paid too much booming online in advance - Trip was fine, the scenery is amazing and the drivers get you to all the relevant points in an organized fashion. Accommodations are incredibly basic. I learned on my tour that booking via viator platform vs haggling around town meant I spent 3x (granted maybe a little less bc I paid for private room). There are dozens of these tours that do all the same thing. Best price found in town.

Tour did not happen, company confirmed reservation but did not show up - We bought the package well in advance, while still in Brazil. The day before the tour we sent an email and the company confirmed it. On the day, we waited from 7am to 9am, with our luggage, on the street. And no one showed up. We tried to contact you via TripAdvisor, email, Instagram and by phone. When they finally responded to us, via Instagram, they said that they had not confirmed my reservation and that they would not pick us up. That I could choose between another day or refund. I chose the refund, which was done at the same time, but it didn't happen right away, just a few days later. And we still had to pay for another stay in San Pedro and look for another agency to take the tour. If you are taking the tour from San Pedro, I recommend buying there, it is safer.
