Insight into relations between owners and slaves on a sugar cane plantation - This was such a rich and powerful experience. Pam, our guide, took us expertly through the history of four generations of owners and slaves during the nineteenth century. Her story-telling skills were so compelling as she explored the complex relationships between owners and slaves and considered the aftershocks that continue to impact on our society today. Don’t expect to spend hours examining the exquisite second empire furniture; do expect to feel confused and outraged by the juxtaposition of owner and slave lives and think about the healing that still needs to take place.

Great exprience! - We had Laura as our tour guide (how fitting!) and she was such a joy to meet and learn from! She's an amazing storyteller and it truly felt like we were getting the insider story from an expert on the subject. She showed us the good, the bad, and the ugly while answering any questions we had. The way Laura told us the history of this plantation made us feel like we were watching a soap opera! We were never bored and on our toes the whole time. She also handled the more gruesome parts of the plantation's history with grace and appropriate solemnity. The house is beautiful and it was refreshing to see such a colorful Creole house while learning about Creole culture. Very informative tour with a very fun, knowledgable, and sweet guide!

Visit Plantation Laura October 2024 - Excellent guided tour in French commented by Joseph. The story of the plantation is very interesting and told from the point of view of both the owners and the slaves.

A highly recommendable visit - The tour in French, piloted by Joseph, creole smiling and super documented, teaches us a lot about the daily history of Louisiana and the slaves-a cruelty without name from all these good Christians!!! The places are very nice to visit...

Great pit stop - Our guide Pam is such a gifted story teller/tour guide. We learned about the work of the plantation, the family who ran it, the people who worked for them and how their lives intertwined.

Must-see Laura Plantation - Very nice visit and moving of this Creole plantation. Amélie and her incredible French (and this little accent so pretty) takes us into the history of the Duparc-Locoul family. Nothing is hidden from the terrible stories of slavery. Really nice and unmissable.

Slavery is still a thing today. - The contrast between the lives of the owners and slaves was excellently explained. And how the unfairness continues today.

Small plantation with exciting history - With Kyla. A very educated creolin. A lot of detailed information is given about the history of the plantation owners, the house and the history of the slaves on the plantation. She could answer all the questions and it was truly very exciting. A perfect English without dialect, very easy to understand even for non-Amis. Highly recommended!!!

Must see when visiting New Orleans - This tour was amazing. Caroline did such a good job at telling the history and story of the plantation, good and bad. If you really want to get a real picture of what life on the plantation was like from all perspectives, I highly recommend the Laura plantation! We booked the first tour at 10:00 a.m. so that it wasn't as hot as it would be later in the day. And it's not wheelchair or stroller accessible since we have to climb up and down stairs into the house.
