Breathtaking! - The beauty of the grounds at Oak Alley is breathtaking! The tour was very informative as it carried us through the generations who owned the home. I appreciated how the role of the slaves within the home was incorporated throughout the tour. It surely gave a sobering account of the exploitation of these poor souls amidst the opulence of the home and its owners. I certainly walked away with a better understanding of life on a plantation. The guide that did the slavery tour was not only informative but very passionate. Highly recommend.

Oak Alley - Early morning pick-up worked perfect as we avoided traffic. It's an hour journey till the destination for a tour that takes 30min, the time spent at the permisses depends on the time that you arrive there. I had a good hour to explore and view everything. The tour around the house is guided and our guide Leanne was amazing and explained everything. The driver was really good explaining everything on the way in and back, we even stopped for some movies spots. Save the morning for this as from pick-up to drop off was around 4 hours.

Good but rushed - Good tour although rather rushed at Oak Alley as tour guide of house asked for questions but didn’t really want them as need keep moving as next group was coming behind us. Not enough time to look at slave accommodation and absorb the information.

Well worth the time - Once we arrived it was well worth it. The tour through the grand house was very informative. As well as the information about the slave homes. Would have liked a little more time as we didn’t see everything.

Oak alley - Fantastic insight in to how a plantation worked. Only criticism house tour a bit rushed not enough time to look around rooms, guide obviously had a time limit to stick to.
