Backwater Cruise in the Gondola (Shikari Boat). They slowly glide through the waters, either powered by a motor or punted with long bamboo poles. The only sounds breaking the serene silence are the calls of myna or Koal birds. The boatmen will pause for a refreshing tender coconut water, provided by a coconut harvester or a toddy tapper who demonstrates the art of toddy tapping (you can watch him climb the tree and tap the sap, which ferments into Toddy after 12 hours at room temperature).
After the backwater cruise, visit a village to observe women engaged in coir spinning and leaf weaving. If time permits, you will also visit a cloth weaving center where women craft cotton Sarees on handlooms.
For lunch, we will dine at a respectable family home or an elite vegetarian restaurant to savor the “Sadya,” the traditional meal of Kerala.
After these enriching experiences, you will return to Kochi and be dropped off at your hotel.
