Do it! 7,000 years in 45 minutes - Understand the broad sweep of Maltese history in widescreen perfection! From pre-history through the Knights of St John, the hospital of the Mediterranean in WWI and its pivotal place in WWII and on to the modern day. Fascinating and informative. A Malta “must do”

Good introduction to Malta's history - This provided a great overview of the history of Malta. The building was amazing and our guide, Anna, was great. It's exactly what we wanted as an introduction to the place.

The best tour in Valetta - Well worth a visit to get an overview of Maltas long and complicated history. The absolute highlight was the tour of the infirmary after the film. Our guide (I think her name was Anna) was excellent, she was engaging, knowledgeable and passionate about the subject matter. It was like meeting your favourite school teacher all over again. I would highly recommend this tour.

Tremendous way to start your Malta holiday! - I found the Malta Experience film excellent giving me a wonderful overview of the history of the island and all the struggles its people gave experienced from invading nations. It’s quite remarkable. The film is 45 minutes long and narrated by Derek Jacobi (for English listeners). I think it’s a great way to start any trip to Malta especially if you know little about its history. We had also paid for the short tour of the famous infirmary that is now used as an exhibition/conference centre. The knights of St. John were first and foremost healers and this infirmary was established by them to heal residents. We had an experienced guide who was passionate about the history and made the short tour extremely informative and interesting.

Don’t miss the Infirmary Tour - The show itself was interesting- told the whole history of Malta in half an hour, with commentary in many languages provided by head sets. Maybe I expected more information about this century, but the emphasis seemed to be on earlier times. It was a welcome break in the cool and a sit down on a very hot day, and beware - there are lots of steps down to the auditorium! The absolute highlight for me was the tour of the Infirmary afterwards- the guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the history and despite yet more steps I found it the best part of the experience. It’s not made clear in the ticketing, so ask at the ticket booth if unsure to make sure you don’t miss the Infirmary Tour.

We don't know where to meet. - We don't know where to meet. We were supposed to meet at the St. Elmo Bridge, but we didn't know how to get there. I had no choice but to show my voucher at the ticket office and have it issued. I saw a movie at the theatre and then there was the old hospital tour, but I couldn't join the tour in the first place so I went to the old hospital on my own and there I finally joined the tour. I wish I'd had the meeting place in front of the ticket counter. Too bad. They lent me a detailed pamphlet in Japanese at the ticket counter, so it was easy to understand, and the movie was in Japanese. By the way, I thought it would be enough to buy a ticket at the ticket counter on the day without having to bother going on the tour because it was not crowded. Some Japanese did that.

Interesting if a little pricey - Over priced and not for young children who are not interested in history. The trip of the hospital was unavailable which was disappointing. Interesting though.

A big disappointment - We were very disappointed because the Sacra Infermeria was closed that day. It was our last day in Malta so we weren't able to visit it. The film was well made, very informative.
