Highlights

In the morning, get picked up at one of the select hotels in Valparaíso or Viña del Mar. Meet your local guide, board the comfortable air-conditioned van and head out on your 4-hour tour of Valparaíso, considered among the most interesting cities in South America, thanks to its picturesque multi-colored houses and narrow streets, which have been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Make a first stop in Cerro Florida to admire La Sebastiana, the home of Nobel Prize for Literature winner, Pablo Neruda (admission not included). Continue along a scenic road through the hills, enjoying views of the city and the ocean, then climb up to Cerro Concepción and walk through the famous Paseo Atkinson and Gervasoni while your guide tells you about the history of immigrants who came to Valparaíso during its golden age before the opening of the Panama Canal, when it still was the main port in South America.

Then, descend to Muelle Prat and see Plaza Sotomayor, one of Valparaiso´s main squares. These squares host some of the most traditional landmarks of the city, including the Old Aduana (customs house), nowadays part of the naval zone of the Chilean army; the monument to Arturo Prat, considered a national hero for the Pacific War; and other French-style buildings dating back to the seventeenth century.

End your tour with a funicular ride to Paseo 21 de Mayo for a stunning view of the port. Your last stop is Cerro Playa Ancha to visit the Merchant Marine viewpoint, with its fabulous amphitheater facing the Pacific, before being dropped off back at selected hotels in Valparaíso or Viña del Mar.

Great highlights tour4 tips - Natty led us on the highlights tour of Valpo. Starting at the port, then taking a funicular and seeing the sights higher up some of the 44 hills of Valpo. Saw lots of great street art.

An excellent half day in Valparaiso - Our half day tour of Valparaiso was excellent. Our young guide, I think his name was Geoffrey, was first class, being full of enthusiasm and vitality. His knowledge was vast and he was interesting and engaging. My wife and I happened to be the only two on the tour so we had totally personalised service. This was a great way to explore Valparaiso and we are really pleased that we booked this tour. Thank you!

He clearly Valparaiso and he was very well versed on the language, customs, and culture of it. He and his driver took us to many of the top sights--the Maritime museum, the Congress, the ascensiores, the protestant churches, La Sebastiono--the house of Pablo Neruda, and Cerro Concepcion and Cerro Alegro. The tour was a great introduction to Valparaiso and it gave us confidence to do more exploring on our own.

We could have seen a lot more
if we had stayed in Valpo instead of Vina Del Mar. Also, it was inconvenient to stay in V.D.M.

Booking process is dishonest!! - Very unprofessional company and a nightmare to deal with. Booking link via Viator delivers a full confirmation and itinerary. However, that does not mean your booking is confirmed! Oh no, you have to wait until the local operator "checks" availability (hang on? haven't I just received confirmation from the Tripadvisor owned company Viator?). The local agent Flavia was incredibly rude and unhelpful and has zero customer service skills. The manager at Gray Line was called Riccardo and takes incompetence to a new level. Finally found out 2 hours later there wasn't any availability (again odd as I've got Viators FULLY confirmed booking voucher). So NEVER book this company!! They are liars and Tripadvisor and Viator are complicit in their dishonest practices.
