La Paz Waterfall Gardens is Costa Rica’s top private ecological highlight, featuring San Jose’s finest trails. It encompasses the country’s most renowned cascades, including the famous La Paz Waterfall, and serves as a wildlife sanctuary and private reserve hosting over 100 animal species. They also offer programs on environmental education. There are five waterfalls nested within the cloud and rainforest. An aviary with 40 bird species offers toucan feeding, along with displays of titi monkeys and insects. It includes a butterfly garden with a lab, 2-toed sloths, capuchin monkeys, spider monkeys, and a hummingbird garden with more than 26 documented species that allow morning and afternoon hand-feeding. There are also exhibition areas for jaguars, pumas, ocelots, tigrillos, cauceles, and oxen carts at the ‘house of peace’ with domesticated animals. Other displays include frog exhibits, orchid showcases, and presentations of heliconias and bromeliads.

Couple with an eleven month baby - Amazing trip - tour guide knowledgeable and caring, coffee tour complimentary, beautiful exotic animals up close, buffet lunch was tasty, and the hike down the waterfall was narrow, scary, but breathtaking - very close to the waterfall

A Must See Activity - Bring a raincoat or be prepared to buy a poncho! The tour from start to finish was exceptional. My tour guide was informative, funny and engaging. The lunch was filling and flavorful.

Good tour but company itself was terrible to deal with - The tour itself was fine and the guide was good but the entire experience trying to book this tour was a complete headache. The pricing was not as advertised, the company itself never got back to me after many attempts to contact them, their messaging was inconsistent and then I was charged a much higher amount than was represented. If you can handle all of these issues, then book with them.

Very amazing day - First of all, this was our first full day in Costa Rica. Our guide, Freddy, and van driver, Carlos, were an incredible team. Freddy is so passionate about showing off his country and wants so much to teach people
About the history and culture of Costa Rica. He was funny and his enthusiasm and here-to-serve and give all the tourists a great experience was so impressive. We had a stop at a coffee plantation and got to walk out in the fields and see the coffee berries. La Paz waterfall and the wildlife refuge blew me away. The wildlife refuge gave us close up views of 4 different toucan varieties, 4 wild cat varieties, butterflies, monkeys, hummingbirds, and really amazing frogs. The restaurant where we ate lunch had a big buffet with plenty of choices for traditional Costa Rican food, but also some other options like pasta with red sauce, nachos, hotdogs, and pizza. You could have tea or juice to drink and there was delicious rice pudding for dessert and lots of fresh fruit. The walk down to the falls was nice and the falls are beautiful! There were 95 stairs to climb at the end to get to the departure point and an exit through the gift shop before boarding the bus to head back to San Jose. It was Christmas Eve, and Freddy threw in a stop at a strawberry stand where we tried farm fresh cheese, wine made from grapes grown in volcanic soil that was sweet and smooth, and fresh strawberries. I was unsure what to expect really, from the description, but all in all, any expectation I had was far exceeded by the energy that our amazing guide brought, the small size of our group, and seeing all the amazing wildlife! Such a great and memorable day!

A perfect day - This tour is a perfect way to be able to see more of Costa Rica than just the city of San Jose. Our tour guide Freddy was amazing. He was so much fun and so engaging, and gave us a lot of information about Costa Rica that we would never have learned otherwise. My husband was not able to walk the numerous stairs to see the waterfalls at the end of our tour due to having a bad back, but they made accommodations for him and made sure we knew in advance how much walking was involved. Daniel our driver was also great and driving in rush hour is no small feat. I will tell people considering taking this tour to expect to possibly spend 2 hours on the ride back to their hotels. A lovely day seeing animals up close - This tour was the perfect way to spend a spare day at the end of my visit to Costa Rica. Since you get to see the animals up close, I felt like I finally got a good view (and photos) of some birds and animals I had previously only seen fleetingly at a distance. And some, like the big cats, that are hard to see in the wild at all. The pace was great -- your choice to stick with the tour guide or to meet up at specified times. Buffet lunch (included) had choices of both "American" (pizza, hot dogs) and local (rice, beans, BBQ pork, fried plantains) food. Our guide and our driver made sure everything ran smoothly. The drive was nearly 2 hours each way, but with short stops at interesting places along the way. Take your motion sickness pills for the winding mountain roads.

Amazing tour and guide - This was an amazing tour. Our guide Abdul was very informative and friendly. His English was very clear. He gave us so much information about Costa Rica. I would recommend Destiny Travels. Also, they picked me up from my hotel on time.

Not suitable for older folks with limited mobility. - The tour took an inodinate amount of time to get to la Paw gardens. The tour description failed to indicate the number of steps there were on the tour or the fact they were uneven and slippery if it rained. The lunch was good. The driving was questionable in the city traffic.
