Beautiful CR - The refuge is beautiful. Worth the trip by itself. Lunch was good. Waterfalls were amazing. It is physical!!! Wear comfy shoes and bring rain jacket.

La Paz Waterfall Gardens Private Tour - Our private tour with Jorge and Jose was outstanding. My wife and I had an extra day prior to a tour in Costa Rica and arranged a private tour to the La Paz Waterfall Gardens. Our pick-up and travel to the gardens was perfect. We were limited on time so Jorge orchestrated every element of our visit to give us plenty of time to enjoy the wildlife exhibits, hike the waterfalls, and enjoy lunch. The La Paz Waterfall Gardens Nature Park was extraordinary; but the day trip was so much better with Jorge's guidance, information and charming personality. We happily recommend Greenway Nature Day tours and especially Jorge and Jose as guides.

Over the top - This place is absolutely amazing... Our party of 25 had reserved and upon arrival we were given bracelets, a map, and our guide began the tour. You go through a bunch of different sections where you see sloths, monkeys, wild cats, butrerflies, toucans, and other birds.. Lots of staff around to provide plenty of information. There is a little hut or home to show you what life was like years ago, and you get a taste of the sugar cane, cheese and tortilla. The walk around the waterfalls is a bit strenuous but very manageable. They are absolutely magnificent, refreshing, just lovely. There is a restaurant with an all inclusive buffet, with pizza, salad bar, local dishes, fresh fruit and 1 dessert. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Gift shops, restrooms, etc... The ride was a bit long to get there, but totally worth it!!!

Overpriced zoo - save your money - Very, very disappointed with this place. Last day of my hols and we hired a car to get here. Went to Poas National Park first with nice views of the volcano crater but not anything exceptional. Moved on to here as I guess that's what everyone does as it's in all the guide books and there's not a lot else around the area. Costs $50 or so, add another $20 if you want to include the buffet lunch. It's basically a series of paths winding down the hill side with a number of cages with birds, cats, frogs, butterflies (when open), etc. All pretty dismal and hoards of tourists milling about having been shipped here on their buses. The paths eventually reach a series of waterfalls which are ok 10-15m drops. That's it. I was picturing a beautiful botanic garden created around stunning waterfalls but it ain't! This is very expensive and the worst aspect of Costa Rica - contrived, commercial tourism. Better waterfalls/gardens to see for free elsewhere. Avoid
