The highlight of my trip to Varanasi - I was a bit nervous as a single woman, meeting a strange male in a new city alone. I needn’t have worried. I had the time of my life. Dhiraj is incredibly warm, engaging, hospitable, talkative…all the things you heed to feel safe. His knowledge of photography is incredible. In the space of just a few hours I learned several new composition techniques, and made the decision to switch to mirrorless. I wish I had more time in Varanasi to spend just hanging out with Dhiraj. I recommend his photo tour wholeheartedly.

Whispers of Dawn: A Photographic Odyssey Through Varanasi's Ghats - We were totally lost in the alleyways in the back of Dashashwamedh Ghat when we had to call Dhiraj to save us at some ungodly, cold, foggy hour in the morning. That was the start of the adventure. We started at Dashashwamedh Ghat, watching humanity’s pre-dawn rituals on the river Ganga by the Ghats. Dhiraj pointed out the details of life that I would have missed as Lauren and I were overwhelmed by the sound, sights, and smells, of Varanasi, the so-called City of the Dead. We saw and photographed men being shaved, cleansed, and purified against a backdrop of colourful umbrellas swathed in material. A man dressed in orange emerged from the fog carrying a lit ember on top of a layered brass tray. We saw the morning fire ritual of a one-man Aarati, no less affecting that one soul performed it. Dhiraji was a wonderful, engaging guide and an even more patient photography teacher. He took us out on a boat and we had photos taken with the local seagulls. He gave me advice on how to curate the shots and how to compose them. By the end, I had captured photos that were nearly National Geographic quality (in my opinion of course). We had a fantastic morning meandering along the Ghats and back streets of the magically atmospheric City of Varanasi. I highly recommend this tour. Thank you DHIRAJ!

Wonderful Street Photography Guide - My photo walk with Dhiraj Goswami was everything I had hoped it would be. He met me at my hotel on the Ganges before sunrise and we set out to immerse ourselves in the sights and sounds of the morning rituals of daily life in Varanasi. He proved to be patient and encouraging as I had a shaky start physically— feeling a bit off kilter. Once my I regained my bearings, we were able to focus on nurturing a photographer’s eye and point of view as he led me to locations with good bones for backdrops for the rich array of subjects that are the heart of this fascinating and colorful city. His accompaniment gave me entree to capturing photos for which I will always be grateful, while his technical tips were valuable as my intent and viewpoint are stronger than my photographic skills at this point! He is an encouraging teacher, talented photographer and a lovely spirit with whom to share a bit of this journey. Much gratitude!

Amazing city, great guide - Dhiraj is a friendly and interesting guy. He has a great approach towards street photography and doing this tour gave me more confidence to take photos of what is around me. Varanasi is truly a photographers dream, so colourful and dynamic, and being able to explore with the help of a local who is also a photographer is such a bonus. Thank you Dhiraj!

An experience to be savoured, while taking the best photos of your life. Trust me, nobody is interested in your selfies. - This is my honest review. What a fantastic photography tour I just had with Dhiraj, which exceeded my expectations. First of all, he picked me up on his vintage Enfield very early this morning. He safely negotiated the traffic, which there was plenty of even so early in the morning. We first visited the Dasaswamedh ghat, the most vibrant of Varanasi's ghats. I'm a beginner photographer, still learning how to apply the settings on my Canon 5D IV camera. For that, Dhiraj was able to give me professional advice, also helping with composition, the rule of thirds, white balance, etc. He also instilled in me the confidence I needed to approach the subjects, and find the best perspective to capture some truly amazing photos. I love street and portrait photography. Varanasi is perfect for that. After visiting several ghats, and a couple of chias, we roamed the back alleys. There is so much subject matter, colours, texture, faces, in all the hustle and bustle, as long as you chose the correct settings, and have an idea about composition, it's almost impossible to take a bad photo. The tour lasted four hours. That time flew by. I would guess I took 400 photos. Plus some video. Was it worth it? Oh My God! Yes yes yes!!! If you are thinking to do this tour, let me give you a little kind advice: Stop thinking, and book it now. Thank me later.

Great experience - We recently visited Varanasi for 2 days only. We engaged Dhiraj a while back and was highly professional and versatile to adjust the tour to our needs and purposes. Dhiraj was also happy to share his photography knowledge. The service was above expected and I recommend it.

No seriousness - I booked a photo tour with Dhiraj Goswami but only 12 hours before he informed me (after I contacted him) that he was absent and would send me a “collaborator” of his. That way I couldn't cancel. The “collaborator” had no photography skills and everything was resolved with a trivial sightseeing tour without even a professional guide. No seriousness
