The programme gets its name from the breathtaking spectacle of sunrise it offers from the ghats. Even though it necessitates an early rise, the opportunity to sail down the Ganges River as the sun comes up is a key highlight for visitors to Varanasi. Varanasi, by Hindu belief, is the place that releases the soul from the cycle of life and death, and its Ganga Ghats wonderfully embody this sacred notion.

Crowds of pilgrims are drawn to the river’s ghats, believing that bathing in the esteemed Ganges will cleanse them of their sins. The sight of locals descending to the river in the morning, immersing themselves in the waters of the Ganga, enacting rituals, and honouring the Sun is truly a distinctive experience. As the journey continues, you pass a variety of riverside temples, historic structures, ashrams, and palaces that gleam with an array of colours in the morning sunlight. There’s an indescribable sense of being outside time itself.
