Dhamekh Stupa, Sarnath - Dhamek Stupa is one of the most important sights in Sarnath due to its antiquity and significance as the exact spot of Buddha’s first sermon. It was here that he revealed the eightfold path leading to nirvana. The stupa is composed of a cylindrical tower that rises around 43 meters, with a diameter of 28 meters. The arched niches halfway up the monument may have once held statues of the Buddha. There are lovely elaborate carvings halfway up the monument on some sides.

Ganga Aarti - Later, just before sunset, you will experience one of the most memorable moments of your life as you witness the Ganga Aarti ceremony. This grand event starts at 7 PM at Dasashwamedh Ghat. Aarti is a Hindu ritual performed by a group of young clergymen dressed in silk saffron and white robes, holding lamps that are waved in sync with the sound of bells, drums, cymbals, and chanting of Sanskrit mantras. The ritual involves offering flowers to the river Ganga and light to one or more deities. In India, Hindus worship the Ganges River as a goddess. Sarnath is the place where Buddha delivered his first sermon to his disciples.
