A gentlemanly guide you can trust. - Thank you for your help on my Varanasi tour yesterday. They guided us through our paces and answered each question carefully. During the sightseeing, he also taught me specific points of caution, such as 'even people who are very good at Japanese should not easily follow you' (for example, someone approached me saying 'I have taken a picture with Masami Nagasawa'). I felt that he was a very reliable guide because he gave me advice unique to the region. When we told them we wanted to buy souvenirs, they introduced us to a government-approved shop where we could shop with peace of mind. The other shop was a friend of our guide (who sells tea, jewelry, etc.), but when I told him that I didn't have anything I wanted this time, he didn't force me to offer it, and he understood immediately. It was also very impressive that there was no push-to-sell at all. During the tour, they naturally knew what we wanted to do and what we wanted to know, and they supported us gentlemanly. He is also a very good photographer, and when I asked him more about him, he said he is also active as a photographer. The next time you visit Varanasi, I would definitely like to join a tour where you can get your picture taken. He explained a lot of things in Japanese and English, and besides that, he was not pushy at all. As I was talking about giving him a tip, he had already sped away and his attitude was very gentlemanly. And if you're visiting Varanasi, I can confidently recommend this guide.

A feast for the eyes. Highly recommend! - The tour was a feast for the eyes. We had close-up encounters with many Hindu rituals during the sunrise ceremony and throughout the morning. Vikash was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. He provided a calm pace to the tour. The cremation site was fascinating to see up close. Vikash brought a sense of humour to the narrative and gave us new insights into Hinduism. We highly recommend this tour. (Also, the chai was delicious).

This tour is worth the price. ... - This tour is worth the price. There are many stray tour guides in Varanasi, but most of them are snatched. They are cheap, but eventually take you to a souvenir shop and ask for high money. This tour is a bit expensive, but a reliable tour guide will tell you about a special place. He was the first to pick me up from the front of the hotel and showed me his morning prayers. After that, he gave me a ride on an empty boat and watched the sunrise from the top of the boat. He showed me the crematorium in a special seat afterwards. After that they saw some famous temples and disbanded. I was never taken to a suspicious souvenir shop. I had a guide who spoke good Japanese so I could concentrate on the tour from start to finish. I highly recommend it.

Best tour in Varanasi - You should stop looking and book this tour. I did a lot of research myself and I wasn’t sure which tour was best for us, but we couldn’t have chosen better. The tour included all the must visit places, and Vinay’s explanations allowed us to have a better understanding of Indian culture and Varanasi’s history. Hope other people can also enjoy this experience as we did!

Memorable tour in the world’s oldest city - This is my first time in Varanasi. After searching much information regarding tour guides in Varanasi, I ended up in selecting Vinay as my tour guide. He is knowledgeable, able to customise your trip accordingly to your style and interest. Despite our super strong spiritual tour interests, Vinay was still able to make it memorable for both me and my partner. If you are still considering whether whom to be chosen as your tour guide, I believe Vinay is supposed to be one of the tour guides whom is worth your consideration. If you believe you are seeking the truths of life, get yourself ready, clear your mind, detach yourself from the world of materialism, pack your luggage, put on your shoes, and indulge yourself in this holy ancient city. Hope my little comment would be beneficial for you!

More than a tour – Varanasi with heart, depth and humour - I booked a tour with Banaras Wala Tours and it turned out to be one of the most meaningful experiences of my time in India. From the first moment, everything felt easy and well organised: clear communication via WhatsApp, punctual pick-up and a flexible plan that was adapted to my wishes and energy. My guide was not only extremely knowledgeable about history, culture and religion in Varanasi, but also very kind, respectful and funny – a combination that makes long, intense days feel light. We visited the ghats, small back alleys, temples and local markets. What I appreciated most was that I never felt rushed or “touristy”. My guide took time to explain the meaning behind the rituals, the stories of the people, and also the social realities behind the spiritual surface. I could ask anything – from Hindu philosophy to everyday life struggles – and always got thoughtful answers. The highlight for me was experiencing the evening aarti and the atmosphere by the Ganges with someone who really knows the place and its rhythm. He also helped me find good spots for photos, while always staying respectful towards the locals and the sacred nature of the place. As a solo traveller, I felt safe and well taken care of at all times – like walking through the city with a friend rather than just a guide. If you want more than a standard sightseeing tour and are interested in understanding Varanasi on a deeper level – its beauty, chaos, contradictions and spirituality – I can highly recommend Banaras Wala Tours. Thank you for sharing your Banaras with me – I will never forget it. 🙏🌊✨

Knowledgeable tour guide - Vinay clearly knows Varanasi and made sure we saw some photogenic highlights, including the flower market and area where saffron sheets are hung to dry. He helped us avoid cultural faux pas at the burning ghats. He did not receive 5 stars because when he learned I was a photographer and had booked another photography tour, he kept trying to sell me on taking a tour with him and then kept pushing to know who we were going with.

THE MOST HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE EVER WITH SCAMMER-'GUIDE' VINAY - AS PER 12/18/2026: The official guide is the biggest scammed, liar & NO-GO EVER. FORGET THAT PROMISED "MAGICAL DAY TOUR"; be prepared for a 7th-rate stroll, where this so-called experienced guide walks aimlessly ahead of you through town, doesn't even check if you're following, constantly yawns, hardly explains, urges you to " keep walking & stop taking pictures", etc. Of course, he expects you to buy overpriced items from the family shop, leave money/tips everywhere and with everyone, pay for his meals, AND EVEN A BOTTLE OF WATER WASN'T INCLUDED?! (although it was in the booking description). If that wasn't enough, "to make it up", he promoted a private tour for the ridiculous price of 140$ & the more, he insisted (in writing ) 3X "TO PAY FOR A PLANE TICKET HE WANTED"! He only acknowledged that the tours were substitute, and proposed in a message to refund 100$ but those are empty words. He will be reported to the police and will definitely be prosecuted.
